yup I could sense sp was about to do something!
they have to really. there is no work!! in any whs! I've been waiting for the big reveal for awhile now. we have been getting vl'd everyday since the end of october!!!! I have never seen a vl during thanksgiving and xmas at this whs ever, so it was obvious the biz was tanking in a very catastrophic way and they have to do something.
Ha! Get used to it. It’s all this company knows. And they always get rid of the loyal, long-term employees. Ruined so many great people….and their families!
Oh wow, I didn’t know about Cranbury distribution center. I work at the FSC in Deerfield. Layoffs in several departments - Sales, Marketing, Supply Chain. I heard Care was hit too but can’t verify that. Sales was hit hard - about 30 laid off - and after getting hit hard last summer.
Sycamore’s getting ready for some sort of big move with the company. Sell off parts of it? Merge? Let some parts of company go into bankruptcy?
We’re also now referring to DCs as extended network, rather than distinguish among Essendant facilities and Staples facilities (MADOT).

last wk the cranbry whs was offered voluntary layoffs which are probably taking effect this wk. i am guessing this is what you are hearing about.
there are no such layoffs at any other whs to my knowledge, certainly not this one. they ask us to "vle" (volunteer to leave early for the day)

What’s your source? They don’t “announce” layoffs and it’s rarely done in January. February could happen but that’s just speculation on my part based on budget issues
