It has always been bad around here with the expectation to work long after the official office hours. But this past year has been horrendous. Workload remained the same, while there are significantly fewer people around. I don’t even want to think about how it will all look like after they lay off thousands of people more. At this point I wish I’ll be among them.

The biggest mistake you can make is to tell yourself that it’ll all end soon just wait it out.
If you believe this, you’re fooling yourself.
Don’t let them wear you down, which is their strategy so that you leave out of panic and anxiety on your own. This in turn keeps them from giving you a severance. While they are trying to make it impossible to do so, try to carve out some personal time and relax.
If approached with a severance package, I’d take it and leave in a heartbeat.
