Thread regarding Optum layoffs

The faster you leave the industry

The better you will feel about yourself and your professional engagement. I’ve worked in health insurance for years. The daily battle with problems at work was slowly eroding my health and self-confidence. It was stressful and demanding, with a not-so-pleasant work environment and excessive overtime. But dealing with claims was what ultimately wore me down. I decided to pull the plug, left not only Optum but industry, found a completely unrelated job, and I’m now on the road to recovery. The job involves working for the community, so I finally feel like I’m doing something meaningful and good. I started recently, but I already feel so much better. Guys, do yourself a favor - find a job you’ll feel good about instead of letting yourself burn out in that cesspool.

Always been about sincerely helping people, and know I do every day, for 30 plus years boots on ground time. The insurance system is beyond of of touch and sinister, now I dream to have the ba--s to boot the industry altogether and rage tools/ get a discount at Home Depot, and just be real

I agree. I recently quit to work for myself and my mental and physical health has greatly improved. I hadn’t realized how run down I was until I got out.

All the knowledge transfer out of the USA is concerning for long term growth. Personally and Corporate wide. I picked up a booklet on edible plants and larva as it seems that is where American middle class is headed. Finish strong.

Been here for 8 years. Survived a RIF last year and waiting for the next one. I’ve been looking and applying at jobs since last week in hopes I can leave this company ASAP.

Its just a job. No different than assembling cars on the line in a factory. You leave they forgot your name before you signed off and another warm body has replaced you.
