For whom the bell tolls

Besides the as--ult on the PBM business, Mizuho analyst Ann Hynes said Tuesday that discussions with a leading broker for Medicare Advantage plans indicated that CVS was among the insurers that lost the most market share during the Medicare Annual Enrollment Period, which ended on Dec. 7.

Hynes said the problem appeared to be that CVS “over-diversified” its Medicare Advantage plan selection and over-extended its benefits.

Some of us have friends and family enrolled in Aetna Medicare. Not by choice but because their previous MCO dropped the hospital network they went to. That was the only reason.

The last round of open enrollment left them confused as to why so many options were available. They were frustrated not being able to determine the differences concerning cost, what was covered and the differences having to scroll through so many options. The brokers were equally confused as to what to recommend. They are with Aetna by process of elimination.

Medicaid is a dead stick...not sure if the medicaid division will survive the next few years. We just lost a couple contracts and didn't win a big one leadership was convinced they would win. The morale is very poor and I see people leaving everyday.

No they did not say lose twenty percent. It was ten. What happened when revenue fell last time? Now double that impact.

There's been a ton of news about Medicare for months. UHC, Humana, Aetna, all took the hardest hit. It was expected we would pull back MA alongside with the new administration. Medicare is shifting into Duals, D-SNP, C-SNP. Overall Aetna is still in 7th place for MA. Basically it's a tight in Medicare but not dissolved.
And far as Medicaid Aetna can still be in the running for regional market just wont be as big as Centenne. Aetna, UHC, Centenne will be contracted with Florida for the next six years sharing 14.1 or 14.2 billion.
It's more the retail and pharmacies that should be worried.

It was well known and expected and I’d say planned for membership to drop in Medicare. Don’t yall remember them saying we would lose like 20%
