Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

XOM has cut so much they can't even be sure of employee taxes?!

I find it completely disturbing that the corporation is so unsure about the accuracy of their withholding tax, they literally asked the employees to make sure they are correct.

How in the world have they fallen so far, so fast that this is the state of affairs? Everyone on the MC should be completely ashamed that an email of that nature had to be sent out. I'm embarrassed for them even if they don't realize they should be.

For those unaware: U.S.-based employees received an email asking them to review their last paycheck to confirm the withholding taxes are correct for the state in which they reside. BTW, this is not a simple ask and should be one that the corporation does accurately without input from the employee.

Ok, thanks.for providing more info on the email request. I thought it was strange that the email was sent to employee. Remember payroll is now being managed in India

It isn’t the company’s job to decide your withholdings it is your job. Duh

ExxonMobil is so fu---d up. Darren Woods is solely responsible for this huge mess. All this outsourcing's so fu---d up. The tax sc--w up is just one more of a long list of sc--wups. I've sold all my shares of XOM. And if you hold any shares of this sh-tshow you should sell pronto. XOM's going downhill so fast. This boat is sinking. I'm out.

@acl So, you’re suggesting the last month of the year is the time for the company to verify and remedy any withholding error? “Oh, hey Exxon, I make a lot of money on the side and so you were supposed to be taking an extra $500 a month from my check but neglected to do so. Please take $6000 from my last paycheck, thanks!”
Does that seem like a well-run corporation to you?

Stupid post. The company doesn’t know what your personal factors are that’s impact withholding. Clearly you don’t understand taxes or how some people do more than just collect a paycheck. If you have other ways of making Manet your withholding a need to be adjusted.

Outsourcing the way of the future. This along with ai, robotics, and automation will doom our society. We already can't do anything with a computer or the internet. Machines will take over eventually and we will be slaves to them.

Because leadership is such a fu--ing clownshow with outsourcing every fu--ing function that kept the place running respectably.

It’s because it was outsourced to India. It’s a very typical, Indian communication.
