Thread regarding CVS layoffs

Many job postings on cvs site - undecided if I should apply

There are many job postings on the Cvs site. I don’t understand how they have so many and some are the same role as the ones that they let go (some at a lower level). There’s one that I am could apply for, but I’m undecided that I would want to go back after they let so many go. I’ve been interviewing and I believe have a better chance of finding a job after the holidays. I just don’t understand the point of letting all these people go and then re-hiring. You may be paying them less, but you’ve lost all that knowledge.

Look at the pay bands- they're less than they were before for these positions. Also, look at your severance agreement language. If they offer you a position and you turn it down for any reason, you lose your severance- so they can lowball you and you'd have to accept it.

I have talked to some of the people who were laid off and got severance. They did apply to CVS positions at their current level or higher. Several people did get multiple rounds of interviews for several different roles. However, the recruiter told him that there was an internal candidate already identified after all the interviews were finished. So most of these people just wasted their time and HR team's time doing these interviews where the hiring manager already knew who was going to be hired. I would agree with most of the people here. Do not apply to CVS unless you are desperate and need some kind of job.

Are you getting severance that you'd have to forfeit if you get an offer? My team is relatively sane despite the state of the business, but if you aren't familiar with the team you'd be applying to, I wouldn't do it unless you're desperate because otherwise you might be in the position of not being able to turn down what turns out to be a bad job. If you're not getting severance, go ahead, you'd probably get hiring priority if it's a real job and there isn't a shoo-in candidate and you don't have to accept if it's a garbage fire.

Don’t, very bad company and culture to work for. Unless you’re desperate.

You are out of your mind if you would go back to CVS especially if you are IT
The only people getting hired are Disney hacks.

The only hires are from the meatball that runs security and infrastructure since he is hiring his buddies.

Many are ghost jobs that are not real. For others, the hiring manager has a friend or family member that will get the job. Even if you do get a job, it will be with lower pay. Then you have to worry about being laid off again.
