Thread regarding CVS layoffs

Retaliation is alive and rampant

The ISTS org got an email last week about fostering a safe and respectful work place. The problem is if you do speak up after calling the ethics line, they always side with leadership. If your leader finds out you are the one who placed the call, you now have a target in your back. I have known way too many people who were severed or fired this year for speaking up. It is sheer retaliation. Who am I going to go to about it? If I send a message, I will have a target on my back. Why bother to have an ethics line when retaliation runs so rampant anyhow. You can’t tell the truth because you will be fired and you wonder why morale is so low.

Sadly, I have seen this multiple times also and experienced this myself as well. Credit for my work was blatantly taken by other employees.

I wonder if we are talking about the same VP. There was one who set out to ruin people's careers. Moved people around based on just not liking them.. They thought they were smart, but just wanted control of money to fund their literal family members.

Yep. I was literally told if you are black balled here. Even if it is based on insane reasons, there is nothing you can do.

I followed those "CVS Values", followed what I was trained on annually and was ultimately ran out of a department I loved. In fact, I was bullied out, treated as if I was in a bar parking lot with street roughs? :D This happened regularly. My character was defamed to groups whom I was interviewing with, etc., etc. etc. Those are just a few details. To be honest, I still have PTSD from that experience, so I try not to talk about it. The people who were abusing me had ties directly to HR Executive leadership. How nice for them.

I moved to another department, was fast tracked to being promoted. That leader who supported me was let go, so I was left to some old, selfish, egomaniacs who not only stripped me of all achievement, but personally attacked me. I was sc--wed on my bonus, rating, and promotion. I was patronized regularly, even screamed at by a grown man who even dropped the F bo-b at me in one of his flurries, calling me every negative thing he could conjure up. He put me on the chopping block, and I was let go. I was one of many who was subject to this person's abuse.

All cases were reported to HR. HR could care less about the humans involved. I even had witnesses who were interviewed aby HR nd confirmed my reports. I was in fact ignored by HR, heard nothing for months, just long enough to get past the statute of limitations. HR closed the case, again, and nothing happened. My rights were violated multiple times, but it didn't even matter, as HR did not care.

I read this initial post and my heart immediately aches for you and anybody who has ever been subject to people choosing to be that evil. What comes around, goes around - truth be told in the company's poor performance, which goes hand in hand with the cronyism that is running the place into the ground.

In closing, if I had ignored those precious "CVS values" and was fine being abused, I would still have a job today. At least I have my integrity? :D

I've seen the complete opposite happen recently. A racist employee made statements in a call with people of color, was held accountable, and filed an HR case on the senior leader. An investigation ensues and during this, a couple promotional opportunities arise within the team. The individual obviously shouldn't be considered given what she'd done and how hurtful her actions were - hr didn't even want to CAP her. But the senior leader stood by us all - 10 toes down to fight for the right thing, and GOT FIRED because the little racists husband is an attorney.

I filed a harassment complaint about a VP who later quit, but not too long after I was job eliminated...coincidence? Who's to say...
