Thread regarding Charles Schwab Corp. layoffs

Schwab is violent

Charles Schwab’s failure to pay many of its employees a living wage is a form of systemic violence that undermines their dignity and well-being, forcing them into financial insecurity despite their labor driving the company’s success. This contradiction is especially glaring when paired with the company’s slogan, “Through the client’s eyes,” which purports empathy and understanding but fails to extend the same principle to its workforce. By neglecting to “see through their employees’ eyes,” Schwab perpetuates a disingenuous narrative, masking exploitation with a veneer of customer-centric values. True integrity demands not only valuing clients but also ensuring that employees are fairly compensated for their contributions, reflecting genuine care and respect for all stakeholders.

MD in HR here. We are most definitely monitoring these boards and tracking IP addresses so we can identify posters/commenters and hold them accountable.

Not that anyone is scared of you, we are all used to Schwab manipulation tactics. But you are insulting those of us who work in tech. You cannot monitor data from another website, thelayoff.com would have to intentionally give it to you, which I cannot see happening here. Folks, just do not visit thelayoff.com on company devices/systems, and you shall be fine. Schwab MD in HR, I know that paycheck must be good, but please cease these loser activities, will ya?

I certainly don't believe it is organic and you can literally just refresh the page to upvote or downvote again but I don't see Schwab HR wasting time here. Glassdoor and LinkedIn are far better places for them to spend their time. This is a troll or some rogue schwoolaid drinker. I can't see it being Schwab HR.

Schwab is looking for every angle to cut costs plus has poorly managed IT and you guys think they have undercover HR agents who are downvoting posts with bots?

I happen to know that the crowding software for such an operation is relatively not that expensive, and also that the thelayoff.com spam protection tool is not as sophisticated as it needs to be -- they need to change it to a tool that requires more than reading a number from an image, since software has evolved and can easily scan a number from an image now.

This is also a testament to where Schwab chooses to allocate its resources. Saving face is much more important than investing in staff to improve its client technology.

Comments in previous posts have shown commenters who have literally seen the downvotes increase steadily right before there eyes as they are looking at the page. That is not organic activity.

Most they will do here is maybe read the posts then say they don't pay attention. They will also do half assed damage control on Glassdoor and LinkedIn. There is just trolls and maybe a few rogue people who drank the schwoolaid here.

Let's be realistic that it is highly unlikely Schwab is placing HR glowies who are conducting a sofisticated psyop here.

Schwab pays if you perform. If you aren’t meeting your metrics seek out coaching. You need to help yourself before others help you. There are actually people here that want to help. Also they gave out retention bonuses during Covid for those that stayed through tax season.

No they do not. They consistently eliminate the top talent on their team when they start earning too much, and torture them on the way out with unfair reviews and performance plans to get them to quit without having to pay severance.

The retention bonuses some got were tied to Schwab's desperation to get through the TDA acquisition and Covid as smoothly as possible, but as soon as the brunt of that was over, many of those folks were still let go, especially those who got the restricted stock that would vest over four years -- well Schwab will try to cut that commitment short if they can.

Schwab is a very penny-wise, pound-foolish corporation that is failing to move the needle when it comes to innovation. Client technology is also constantly breaking down, which continues to frustrate clients. And even if you have good metrics and performance, you risk being seen as a threat to management, or considered too expensive. This is, and continues to be, the Schwab way.

I cannot begin to explain how much I love the complete meltdown Schwab’s social media group is having with downvoting this post.

This is the approach Schwab takes with most things. Cover up and downplay rather than fix.

I wonder how Schwab clients feel about holding their assets in a company that utilizes scammy bot technology to manage their poor image.

You know you hit the truth when the downvotes come out in full force. I work on the phones in CS&S and I don’t make enough to live on my own, and have to have roommates. How high have prices skyrocket in the past few years since Covid? Everything‘s significantly more expensive now, but our pay continues to be incredibly low for Frontline individuals.

I have a lot of problems with how things are at schwab, but definitely not with my pay. Sounds like a 'you' problem

Please describe your experience and expectations! Or else this is nothing but a propagandist post.
In my experience people may have problem with quality of work or manager! But never with benefits and paycheck(relative to their skills and experience)

You’re delusional. How many thousands of college educated people would beg to have your job? Your propaganda is just weird.

hmm, odd post as there isn't much context. Would be interested to understand what type of role and salary range that you are in. Without that, I'm hard pressed to comprehend whether you are not receiving a "living wage". Understand a lot of employees may feel that they are under compensated but everyone has the ability to seek other employment, right?
