"There’s more information on how many people a large employer here in Eastern Carolina is laying off.
The North Carolina Department of Commerce says Hyster-Yale will let go 97 employees at its Greenville plant in January.
Earlier this month the company said it was going from 2 shifts to one at the plant along U.S. 264.
The company would not tell WITN how many workers would be impacted.
The company told the state that layoffs would begin on January 23rd and that the cuts were expected to be permanent.
Almost half of the jobs are assemblers at the plant.
Hyster-Yale designs and manufactures lift trucks as well as parts and attachments for them."
