Don’t be fooled you can be laid off in US on FMLA(Family Medical Leave Act) and LTD(Long Term Disablility).
NOT TRUE!!! I know someone that was laid off on Medical leave in US!
If you go on leave when the layoffs are going to happen, you can’t be laid off. It’s good luck and a good roll of the dice you won’t be there when they want to lay you off.

For some locations, “on leave” is also used for staff that has recently been laid off, which may contribute to the higher number of staff on leave…

Just back from long(ish) term medical leave just to serve my notice period. Bye Dell!
Childish rules, childish behavior… simple as that. And BTW, what’s happened to MC posts? Vanished like his details from Workday
This is what you get for treating people like kids, they start acting like kids.
Seeing this too in UK sales. Mix of people giving up, no motivation, and with RTO you can no longer work at home if feeling too sick to leave your house, but not bedridden. Kids are starting to come home from school sick, parents have no choice to take time off, before RTO they could work at home and care for their kid.
American winter holidays are beginning.
Starting to see a lot of people drop off for various medical reasons in my region also.
going on medical soon.
