I was in a Kohls yesterday and the floors were polished and the store was overflowing with merchandise. Simply this is what is wrong with Macy's.

Brighter lights will only make the dumps in my area look even worse. I think Macy's is missing the mark here is my point, they have done it for years. Even if you add 50 + 75 that is not even close to the number of stores open. The Kohl's are nice bright, clean, and full of Merchandise. Why would I step into a 1970's styled, dirty Macy's? The higher ups take 0 pride in 126 plus stores and are going to close them all eventually, which is just sad because people will just shop elsewhere.
The First 50 get most of the attention, then the N75 locations of which I visit a few as a vendor and there is a difference. The stores that are in jeopardy are much slower and buildings are in much worse shape. First 50 are getting new Access Points that’s something to look for. The lighting also you will notice is mostly LED brighter lights. Just calling out these small details. New Bloomies stores will get a Cafe except for the Outlet Stores. The CEO of Bloomies wants to add cafes to many of the existing stores which would help add an amenity that customers would like.
Your store must be a top 50 if it looks really good.
