Thread regarding Citigroup Inc. / Citibank / Citi layoffs

How is the job market at the moment?

As suggested in the title. What is your job hunting experience? Is the market warming up?

Thank you.

It’s not bad but better if you have something other than just banking in your background. As someone who has banking and engineering experience, I found another role outside of Citi pretty quickly earlier this year when things were going south.

It is good if you have degrees with pedigree and a skillset which isn’t bound to 20+ years in finance. Some good positions in green energy and also academia if you have the quals.

my first developer role. Focused on the tech and infrastructure. Gained enough experience now to look for a new role once q1 of 2025 rolls around.

It Decent if your sole experience is not in banking. I have extensive fortune 100/500 FP&A background which I’m not doing here (smh at decision to join Citi). I imagine things are tight if you’re just bouncing between banks…

Not everyone on the same timeline. Its easier when you have 5+ years experience in your field, its easier to move around.

I was not experienced enough, I was still junior and Citi was allowing me to build up my skillsets. Now that I am more experienced to get out, I am trapped by the job market

You should’ve moved out of Citi when there was a wave of Great Resignation two years back.
