huge merger in feb?

Heard rumors of some big merger/sell in Feb. Perhaps storage to NVIDIA?
Anyone hear anything similar? - seems to be tightly controlled info...

"Would provide NVIDIA a storage platform to develop specifically for AI" Which of the myriad of different storage platforms Dell has would they want? Surely they wouldn't need all of them?

NVIDIA rumor seems very plausible now. Would provide NVIDIA a storage platform to develop specifically for AI not general purpose (similar to Oracle buying Sun to build a platform for running their software). MSD happy to be a reseller for that and other storage technology and not have the high cost of development and support. Particularly as margins for storage are trending well below what he wants. Cash in, become a larger holder of NVIDIA stock, offload expensive staff. Lots of plusses for a few at the top.

Nobody would buy the storage it's like Broadcom riding out fiber channel they will sell it until the profit is 0.

Why develope and upgrade your storage systems, when you can just buy the next hot system and let the old stuff fade away.

Equalogic Compellent EMC. Why does Dell keep buying storage companies and then fail to develop hardly anything new (or keep the current storage offering competitive)?

I am hearing persistent rumors that HP is going to buy the storage business of Dell. Don't know if there is any grain of truth in this..

"posing picture in front of the NVIDIA server by MD?"

That's MD try to look like he sits with the cool kids.
Most people know it was just dell buying a gpu and putting it in their server.

Keep in mind this is just table scraps from smci.

Well, did you see the posing picture in front of the NVIDIA server by MD? Could happen but this is just my own and only speculation.

I just wish something or other would happen. I hate limping along from month to month, year to year. It often seems as though there is no real plan anywhere, just lots of disconnected people doing things.

They would not. It's pure hope from the poster at this point.

Why would NVDA want Dell's storage portfolio? It's old and tired and cannot compete with Weka or DDN in high GPU AI deployments.

Rubbish

It's not sarcasm.
Could dell sell aspects of its business? yes

but to think it would be a major tech company who would do the purchasing is pure hope.

This particular one has been making rounds for a while now, typically such rumours end up being true.. but I doubt this one is happening anytime in the near future.. because MSD won’t let go of this golden opportunity of being part of the AI Industrial Revolution, it’s a once in a lifetime opportunity and he will do anything to make it happen and end on a high.

That said, you never know.. old man doesn’t have a successor and he’s been the chief executive for most of 40 years and he may be considering cashing out finally.

Storage will be purchased by the drain for 10 mills.

Not sure if "hopium" is sarcastic or not.

the rumor includes significant layoffs - especially in finance/accounting.
but if no one else has heard anything at all, maybe its just not true? but I trust the source.

LoL. The hopium continues.

Yes, there is a silent bidding war amongst nvidia, ms, google, and meta to buy Dell.
