Thread regarding Citigroup Inc. / Citibank / Citi layoffs

Be careful. When they ask you to put a tic in that box that you’ve read the employee handbook, make sure you read the fine print.

There’s no telling in what way they may change it or add to it in the fine print. You very well may be agreeing to take a much lower salary going forward. While you don’t have to agree to take a reduced salary, they can still get rid of you. You may even be agreeing to taking less vacation time.

Read your documents carefully. One way they’ll really get what they want. A very tight deadline on “ticking that box”. Heaven forbid there’s enough time for you to let an employment lawyer read anything you’re supposed to sign.

Surely it's obvious to most employees that Only destitute, replete with violations of Law and Regulatory Fines imposed and financially unstable companies nickle and dime their employees, pull tricks and stunts including but not limited to placing clauses in the Employee Handbook which we're forced to agree to having read and signed that Citi can reduce our salaries over time at anytime, Re-leveling/Demoting employees Not because of bad work performance but because Citi can Not afford to pay the higher salaries and bonuses, Layoffs both mass and mini-Layoffs, managing/forcing employees to Quit voluntarily by creating and maintaining toxic psychotic work environments so that Citi does Not need to pay Severance, etc.,etc., etc..
The same shenanigans, subterfuge, games and BullSh!t happened in Defunct companies such as Gruntal, Bear Stearns, and the Knocking on Heaven's Door, AIG. Just Google all of this. It's True.

Post ID: @lrr+1vxAhpFw Even if you sign the Handbook, if and probably there are, conditions and details in the Handbook that are illegal, your signature is NOT binding.

When you get your job offer letter, and your return it with your signature, you are agreeing that your salary is X, you're getting y vacation days, medical benefits, etc.. Stating in the Handbook After you signed your job offer letter that your salary can be decreased over time is false and deceptive practices and labor rights abuse. Consult with an employee-side Employment Lawyer if you're in this situation.

I wasn't aware not acknowledging it was an option. I guess it is if you don't want to work here anymore. Some of you act like you have rights at Citi. The only right you have is the right to work here, or not. While there are laws to protect against things like discrimination, there is no union, no arbitrator, no advocate for the employees. It's corporate America.

If I refuse to sign I’m out of a job…? They’re not going to change anything in the handbook. These j3rks are out the get all of us one way or another. That miserable good for nothing Jane will pay her dues one day.

I put absolutely nothing out of the realm of possibility when it comes to both upper management or Citi HR. If there’s a way to put something past you that you may not catch, they will do it.
