What a disaster she has been. If someone wants to understand how DEI can damage a well-run institution, look no further than Intel.

We can ask this question about almost all ELT members including Pat.
- When will Saf leave? Under him, corporate Strategy office is ballooned to a gigantic organization full of failed, unwanted businesses. He filled the strategy org with his McKinsey colleagues and hired McKinsey as a consultant company. Conflict of interest, ethics??
- When will Sandra R leave? She single-handedly caused tremendous damage to DCAI and Intel. Our DC marker share went from over 90% to 65%. She hired some of the worst talent. Remember Janet George, kavitha. Instead of firing her Pat made her the CEO of Altera. She is at it again, just look at Altera’s bloated organization filled with rejects and low quality talent and declining revenues.
- When will David Z leave? It is crazy that CEO of a Dow jones company (not any longer thanks to Pat and his dream team) misses guidance not once but 3 times. In the latest quarter, his explanation for large fab equipment write off (they were sitting there) was stunning. Why does Intel pay him and all those finance CFOs big salaries. What are these people doing. In addition to him, there is a CFO for manufacturing. Crazy.
- When will Greg leave? He failed miserably achieving anything in software. Forget about 1 billion revenue. He couldn’t even create 100 million but Pat promoted him to EVP.
- When will Sachin leave? He is awful. He makes the other ELT look like a A team. He is an arrogant rookie and barefoot networks was a total waste of money. He hired terrible people at such high levels.
The list is long, how about, when will the resident anthropologist leave? I guess never.
I feel at this point, the org can only be cleaned with a merger otherwise it is hopeless.
Youssef el Mansy should take over TD.
Ann hired non-related people to manage TD, this is the worst damage to TD. Whatever she did, not any visible improvement, she introduced a large set of incompetent and political managers.
I personal saw many cases that people told lies to Ann, Ann believed those lies.
The mistake of 5N4Y was adding capacity for the interim nodes.
Those tens of billions for all that excess capacity are the heart of the current issues.
Nothing wrong with stepping through nodes rapidly, and if there was demand then let that drive fab conversion, beyond the ronler campus.
Instead what was done was to stand up multiple fabs on nodes that had no internal or external demand. ProdCo had already decided it needed to get back to tech parity sooner than 18A could be delivered.
Some ELT should be terminated for making that d-mb call.
LTD was given pretty much unlimited resources to deliver 5N4Y, which was actually 3N4Y, and still failed miserably. Time to cut losses.
The PM who ran the notorious 10nm program just returned as Integration head for all LTD programs. Watch more programs failing including 18A ...
The myths around the id--tic 5n4y must be corrected once and for all.
Intel 7 is no different than 10+++, aka 10#
Intel 4 and Intel 3 are identical with the only difference of Intel 3 supporting smaller standard cell that no one uses. It’s 1276 which should have been high volume in 2020
20A was disbanded
18A is seriously behind. DD is not good enough for external foundry customers.
So what did Ann deliver? Nothing. Nada. Zippo. Zero. She should have been fired long ago. Should never have been installed given no TD experience prior to her coronation.
@1mnu
Your race car can't make it around the track so you replace it with one that still fails, but a little further down the track. Ann is a race car that can't make it around the track, much less fast enough to compete.
XX employees get a lot of rope. Ginni Rometty ran IBM to the ground every year for 8 years, but was named one of the most powerful XX on earth. Same thing happened with Marissa Mayer at Yahoo.
I’m not sure what people were looking for from Ann. I thought TD improved while she was there and has been executing better than they did in the past. She also fought to keep jobs in the organization. She doesn’t come across as fake like many other members of the ELT.
She needs to swallow her pride and ego and step aside and let someone more capable lead TD out of this mess. Enough is enough. PG needs to be more forceful.
To be announced Intel Foundry CEO
5NFY was always a terrible idea for 3 reasons:
- No way customers can absorb so many platform changes
- Intel cost for waste, ramp, inventory write offs generates way too much red ink
- Too much process change results in huge quality and reliable
We now see the results of such a major error in judgment. Many saw it coming but the CEO was hired to świng for the fence and this is the result.
Some LTD integration leader is still rude and malicious. Under Ann, TD is worse than Sohail's time.
The people Ann hired under her should leave as well... Maybe with her.
@mpc
Oh, well she tried and should be adored for that? Bzzzzt, WRONG. btw, 5N4Y isn't impossible. It just takes people who have the drive & skill to make it happen. Ann has neither.
Ann, you're useless and you're done, now GTFO!
She had a challenging task. 5N4Y was never an achievable goal. But she tried.
