Thread regarding Citigroup Inc. / Citibank / Citi layoffs

Locking down US data taking form.

Some companies already have policies to NOT allow any US personal data to be viewed, or accessed by any non-US employee regardless of whether they are employed by a US based company or not. There’s even a growing HR push in this regards. Some HR companies keep your HR data stateside ONLY and while they may hire nonUS employees, they are in roles to where they don’t have access to US personal data.

Now, before congress, this very thing is on the table for discussion and seems to be meeting little opposition.

Citi hires a ba-jillion nonUS employees that have access to US citizen data.
If there’s millions of US citizen’s who’s data is restricted from being viewed by these ba-jillion nonUS citizens, then there’s a need to hire more US citizens to make up for the work that can no longer be done by the ba-jillion. Also, theres no longer a need to have a ba-jillion of nonUS employees.
