Thread regarding NXP layoffs

NXP Layoff Again

If you want to work for a company that their CEO mock other companies for laying off people and ends up doing the same, that only overwork engineers, that think they are Google but their benefits are not even close, that dont even look at the employee performance when they get rid of them but just use them for balancing their numbers for their shareholders then NXP is your place to go.

I agree with what you are saying, but this is nothing new. Motorola/Freescale tried several times to move everything to Asia, arguing that engineers or employees in US were too expensive. They realized several times that there is a reason why engineering in the US is more expensive when no body else could fix any problem. What I really wonder is, why dont you sell your businesses to american companies if a dutch company cant keep up with the expenses, instead of slowly getting rid of everybody and then facing the trouble to keep up with customer commitment or keeping the quality of their products

Truth is this. NXP is a European company now. Freescale/Motorola is dead. They, in my opinion, intend on letting the U.S. basically die on the vine. In 20 years, there will be little left. The benefits are fine, the job is also fine. But long term, the plan is to move out the U.S. They consider wages to be too high. That, is my humble opinion and I would be hesitant for that reason to recommend the company at this point to anyone in the States.
