Thread regarding Comcast layoffs

More layoffs at Comcast Business

My department was hastily pulled together for a call w/ interim VP. Were told effective 3/31/2025 everyone will be let go. The jobs will be transitioned to Manila where a team was established back in the spring. At that time approximately 25 employees were let go in US. Since the employees in Manila are Comcast employees it technically won't make come on anyone's radar. What a sneaky shameless and gutless company. Own it if you're going to do it. Worse everyone was cautioned not to say anything to anyone. No way they want the word getting out Comcast Business customers will now get a lower standard of personalized customer service.

Get out folks! This is a trend not an exception.

So sorry to hear about the nasty nature of Comcast. Comcast stinks. I have a client who was laid off late last year as well. Luckily, she and I worked together to make sure she had a solid emergency fund and a plan in place so that she was able to maintain her lifestyle until she got a new (and much better) job at a company that values her. It's been a while since the first round of layoffs but if you or your old colleagues could use professional guidance consolidating/rolling over their old Comcast Fidelity retirement plans or company stock, I'm happy to help. My team and I are licensed all over the country, but being based in DE, PA borders us. https://www.ameripriseadvisors.com/nicole.magnusson/

To the person that said most techs will be gone in 25....is that Business Install Techs or Residential?

Most of your techs will be gone in 25 also, I work for a contracting company and we are not only going to increase our participation in emergency tickets, but we’re supposed to be increasing the amount/percentage of new installs. They are bidding out the same work for other telecom companies as well…and they’ll be successful. If you don’t want to become a contractor or work for one, start/join a union. It is the only way in the future to retain job security.

Our department went from 15 to 9 to 7 two years ago and just this November there are now 5 of us left. Everyone laid off. Outsourced agents are garbage. Broken English notes if readable at all. They can’t troubleshoot to save their lives and the ITG guides they use are completely trash. They cancel customers appointment without so much as a call because it “passes PHT”. Terrible business practices our team are constantly trying to fix and this is just not a sustainable way to do any business. Yet they keep doubling down with this “strategy” every year. I can’t believe what I’m seeing. This company is sunk. They are robbing Peter to pay Paul at this point and artificially inflating their stock to stuff their golden parachutes as full as possible before this whole place implodes. We all know in our department this is our last year before they outsource the last of us and we’re getting ahead of this. Please anyone who is watching what is going on and still with this joke of a company protect yourself. Don’t wait to be thrown in the trash. If you haven’t been laid off you probably have a year or so do try and find better. Use your time wisely and good luck to everyone.

I was one of those 50+ employees they let go in 2017. I worked for Comcast 16 years. When Bryan Roberts took over the company went into the toilet. I used to be around to work at Comcast. Then I'm told my job is being eliminated but I am supposed to train my replacement. Oh, no I'm not. When IT was moved to India the whole King of Prussia team walked out. If they are not offering you a severance then walk out. Make sure you tell all your business customers they will be dealing with people from overseas.

At least they didn't ask you to train to your replacement like they did me.

It doesn't surprise me at all with Comcast. They always cut people around the holidays. I worked in the Big South Region in Nashville, TN and every year they always cut people. I remember in 2017 or 2018, they let go all residential sales people and there managers door to door, 2 weeks before Christmas. That same day also let go about 10 B@B sales people. Comcast always cuts right before the holidays because they want there new budgets for the following year to look good to there investors. I was let go in 2021, and my job was sent overseas, was with them for 15 years, got severance and insurance till the end of the year but, they did those layoffs right in the middle of Covid and it was he-l trying to find work. Comcast does not care about there employees, all they care about is how much money they make each month and when they start losing subscribers there resolution is to offer employees early retirement and if that don't work or it doesn't help there numbers they lay people off.

Replying to Lou from California. Is this Comcast business that is impacted? Can you elaborate on what exact departments and how many just so we all know everyone's going through it right now in Comcast?

More layoff's announced last week, now impacted hundreds of operational folks. I am in California and over 130 folks impacted in all departments. These are the deepest cuts I have ever seen now impacted front lines and front line leaders and reducing our ability to service remote areas. Mid tier leaders now have enormous sometimes multi state domains that they cannot possibly hope to lead.

Sadly, layoffs are the norm for Comcast but, unlike other companies, you will rarely read anything about it. They eliminated the majority of their older workers with years of industry experience all the while bragging about their DEI efforts ad nauseum. It worked, because no one seemed to notice that the majority of employees over 55 were gone. They spent millions on NPS but never walked the walk because they consider customer care a necessary evil rather than an asset to retain loyal customers. Comcast underestimates the power of their many, many, former employees and their families that refuse to do business with them because of how they treat their employees. Once again, they have laid off many during the holidays and could care less about the employees or the negative impacts on thousands of families. There are a few employees on social media posting day in and out about what a great place it is to work from great "business trip" locations. However, for the hardworking masses, it's not so great when you go to work every day wondering if it will be your last day. Then when it is, you see these inconsiderate Comcasters posting about their upcoming trips for offsite meetings, celebrations, etc. and wonder WTAF? Not the kind of company you want to work for, nor the disingenuous people you want to work with.

Residential is inconsequential. Nobody cares about that anymore and certainly Comcast does not care either. They make far more money from business customers.

I'm reply to the person who said their VP read from a script. Do you have any details on what department was impacted?

When Comcast employees start realizing what's going on and find better companies to work for, I'll be in the back clapping. When Comcast goes downhill Im' gonna laugh at them for their actions

Agreed. I was impacted and have to say that the VP was literally reading a script, said he’d leave call so HR could answer questions. Hr partners read their script of what the next few months would look like and then just ended the call. Zero empathy, zero compassion…. What’s most amusing is that many of the us employees continue to train and support the Manila folks even the managers over there. This will impact the quality of service to the customers and is such a sad greedy statement.

Rampant greed is the cause of this. Wait until the Comcast business customers get a load of this information on the jobs being shifted overseas and Americans being laid off. The support is abysmal the technical acumen of those overseas is severely wanting. There is no way around this but to explain it as rampant greed. They continually have Town Hall meetings with employees and the high up executives spend the entire time patting themselves on the back on how great they are. They also sat there with a straight face and repeatedly said the first 10 billions in revenue was easier to make but the next 10 billions in revenue will be more challenging. Well I can tell you for one thing they make far more than that and addition to that they stated that id--tic comment on conference calls speaking to some people who can barely pay their bills for various reasons and also some that also deserve to be paid better than what they are. The shocking cocky arrogance that they can with a straight face make a comment like that is beyond description. They should be ashamed of themselves but they're not because they have no conscience and no moral center. These are corrupt people to the core.

Respectfully to the person who said that is not outsourcing, it most definitely is! It is because they hired foreign workers in foreign countries made them Comcast employees. Then they laid off the American workers after the American workers trained them. I feel very bad for the Comcast business customers that are going to have to deal with foreign support. They are not very good there has been an attempt to train them everyday for months on end and some for up to a year and they have barely made any progress. Business customers that pay a lot of money are going to be in for a rude awakening and they all need to know what Comcast is truly doing on the inside. Thankfully these forms expose this behavior by the greedy Comcast executives.

Wow. CMCSA is toast as business customers will NOT tolerate Manilla, or eventually India, support.

I was fortunate to be there when subs were increasing but, IMHO, CMCSA will have to sell off assets and merge with another provider to stay afloat.

Find another job folks!!

It's not outsourcing. They were hired as Comcast International Employees. There will be more layoffs in the future. Seems the plan is to greatly reduce the American workforce.

What departments were impacted? I know that Service Assurance was impacted along with PMO and MES. Anything you have on that? They are outsourcing to Manilla as stated and also to Tata in India. They are not doing well in trying to replace US workers. They pay these people over there pennies on the dollar. Comcast has ZERO loyalty to its employees. They constantly lie when asked about job cuts and say oh no you won't be impacted. Don't believe it. Quality for the Business customers that pay a lot of money is going down the drain as we speak.
