An inflexible attitude towards remote work will cost Schwab many more employees - and most of them the best ones - than they expect. I don't know a single person who's not looking for something else that allows work from home. I can't believe the leadership can be this stupid.

Yep - had my WFH denied and I was hired as full time telecommute due to my remote location - F upper leadership - I'm looking to leave as well, already working on the search and I know 2 others that are leaving - will destroy our team, but idgaf...
Some of us don't have families, and we live alone. The lonely guy or gal with their dog, cat, or in the most extreme case, single gold fish. RTO is a blessing in that case. It's our only source of human interaction, face to face. I am one of those "winners" (with the gold fish).
For all the people on this thread bootlicking the RTO policies of this company (most of the EC is fully remote anyway) - WFH goes beyond basic creature comforts and depending on your family situation can be a truly life changing development at no cost to the company. The “muh gen z lazy” argument is incredibly myopic and shows a lack of critical thinking. The policy has been jammed down from above while at the same time remaining unfairly enforced. I personally (not gen Z btw) have tried to make it work, despite from a performance standpoint this being the most outstanding year of my career I have never been unhappier in my life. And yes before the room temperature IQ individuals chime in about how McDonald’s is worse - of course it is, but we have the digital environment and ability to make our lives substantially better and there is nothing wrong with advocating for that.
This was the plan all along, have you not been paying attention? They WANT people to leave, they don’t care if they are losing talent, they’re trying to save money on severance packages. Wake up!
Bashar, stop logging in and trolling people. Get back to work!
Uuuhhhh….I’m gonna get on a message board and complain about RTO over and over and over again. Cry, cry, cry. Whine, whine, whine. Poor me, poor me, poor me. I only get on here to laugh and make fun of the whining “WFH” army. You all make me laugh so much. I appreciate it. I really do.
Yeah sorry WFH hater you are about to be working by yourself
Leave. Every single last one of you that complains about 3 days in the office. Total and utter joke. Every single last one of you. It’s appalling.
I think we have a Schwab troll here.

Dose of reality. 4 years ago this wasn't a question, now your threatening to leave over it. Su-k it up or go work for an unstable startup to get your remote work.
Many innovations are created during challenging, difficult times (Covid pandemic is an example of a challenging, difficult time). Doesn’t mean that we abandon the beneficial offshoots once the difficult time is over and go back to the way it was…best direction is usually always forward. The pandemic revealed that effective, productive work can take place outside of the office, while enabling employees to enjoy better health, and spend more time with their family. Stable corporations are embracing remote and hybrid work schedules, not just startups. And the best talent can and will leave if the flexibility and trust they desire in their work situation will not be granted. You’ll find that the more talentless and talent-generic roles are the ones most heavily pushing for more face time in the office in order to help prove to themselves and to others that they matter and exist.
"Most" companies are not going RTO5, most "bad performing" companies are mandating RTO5. Get it right. There are PLENTY of non-startup companies that have embraced WFH and encourage it.
Most companies are migrating to RTO5 it's just a matter of time. I would expect only smaller companies remain a good portion of fully remote as offices are a bigger portion of their expense.

Main point is there's other negatives to companies that are more remote forward. Choose what's best for you instead of complaining.
You must be ignorant. They are looking for ways to have people leave on their own so they dont have to pay severance at the next layoff.
Or wait a few more months for when another large layoff comes.
I had two leaders who spoke constantly about how they would never leave Schwab and i believe it. They were the absolute worst and belong there. Otherwise everyone else wanted out.
Marked. Remembered and noted. This prediction will come to fruition.
I’m looking for a new job and I know if at least 4 people on my team doing the same
