I'm not staying here a day longer than I have to. Optum has become a horrendous place to work and I don't understand how more people are not trying to leave.

They know when bonuses are paid out and when employees become eligible. That’s when the first big layoffs of next year will occur - think mid to late January. Someone else said this Thursday was another potential date - at this point, we are all traumatized waiting for the axe to fall
Just quiet quit on them, the cronies in mgmt deserve it! Why should they make bonuses for your late nights and weekends just to keep up?
I work in a department that is slowly being replaced with offshore folks.
I work insurance denials. It's something I really enjoy.
I was taken off my team and put on a new one but work ot on my old team.
The good thing about working denials is the denial itself is on the payer's portal and on the remit sent back by the payer. I'm really effective and can exceed productivity and am efficient at resolving the denials and getting payment.
The offshore folks read the remit, then go to the insurance portal to read the denial, then they email the insurance company to get the denial, then they never fix the denial.
For example I saw a denied claim today that denied for primary payer eob not received. The offshore worker went to the portal, confirmed the denial and then sent am email to the insurance company to ask what the denial is and for clarity. The offshore person noted the account as emailed insurance and then never went back to the denial. This denial is fixed by the insured either calling the insurance company and confirming cob or telling us their other insurance policy. I messaged the offshore group that they don't need to email the insurance company just to wait for an email with the denial when we can find it in two places and I'm here to help. I was told by the offshore team they email the insurance. So they add a step and then never work the denials. I don't see how that's sustainable for lowering the AR.
And now I'm done. I didn't get a raise worth anything last year, I'm probably not getting one worth anything this year and I'm going to be replaced by people who don't know how to do the work and can't be trained. I've been looking casually but now I'm out. I'll be applying to everything I'm even semi-qualified for. The business cannot continue like this. Eventually someone is going to have to do actual work.
The job market is awful. Hundreds of people applying for the same jobs. Right now, it is about a 3-5% response rate for interviews- and that’s with working with a professional career coach. Some are only at about 1%~ that’s 1 interview out of 100 applications.
It’s insane.
Many are leaving, hopefully that saves jobs for others until they can find something
with as much sensitivity as possible...it's hard to tell the rats who are jumping ship from the ones being actively chucked into the water.
I don't know anyone that wants to stay; most are just hanging on for the severance. If I could find another job I'd leave today.
I’m hanging on for the unemployment. They hate paying it and do practically anything to make you quit including making up stuff about you.
We are all At Will employees... we can quit whenever we want. Sadly, the job market su-ks right now so that always has to be a consideration.
I'm just trying to put up with this place until bonus time. As soon as the check hits the bank account I'm quitting.
@cti+1vtDwlMf I plan to quit at the end of the year whether I have an offer or not. After 20 years I’m at my breaking point.
People are actually quitting before finding a job! That’s how bad it is
I believe many are trying to leave.
