RTO - 4 Days a Week

It’s pretty much a fact that the hybrid wfh/in office policy is about to change for those of us that have been in roles that allowed for this. Apparently it’s 4 days a week in-office coming down. Why? We’’re ki-ling it and are a growth positive organization. It’s about control and power. And forcing people out without actively laying them off. In this case the cruelty is indeed the point and it’s sick.

Yeah, I guess CEOs deciding that WFH was a failure and looking out for the future the company is a bad thing. It's more important that employees continue to pretend to work from home and ruin the future of the company!

Sound familiar? So, the CEO cabal met and decided that if they all do RTO, workers will have to su-k it up, and all came up with the same reasons for why? It's like on a tv cop drama when all the suspects interviewed tell the story the exact same way...

Let’s be for real, this is only about MONEY. First, they won’t need to lay people off. Second, you will spend more money in the office for coffee and food. Even though utilities and maintenance are fixed expenses, you will be there, so it “appears” as if the fixed expenses are not wasted. We will see the tax breaks they get later from “forcing” us back (yes force, so for the people saying it’s better to RTO, you do know you had the option to work four day right, it was an option).

It’s ALWAYS about money, they don't give a f**k about you. And the fools that are okay with this, they don’t care that there’s less money in their pocket. You are being played, at least own that. Don’t just cope with others are lazy and it’s better for collaboration.

People saying valuable employees will leave. The truly valuable ones were able to negotiate a remote work agreement, and from Lal's words himself these agreements will be honored indefinitely. As for the thousands of others who got to work from home just because of the COVID thing: Get your a$$ back in that cubicle.

Simple solution…people that produced at home they keep work from home life balance. People that abused and less productive bring them back in. Both can be true and done.

Those that worked from home and now way they are not going to put in the extra effort any longer are full of sh-t. They were not working from home, They were taking a call in the morning and one in the evening and claimed they were working while taking care of chores or hitting the gym. It has been terrible for the culture of the company, ki-ling innovation, slowing down collaboration and new product launches. People need to be together.

As a 4-5 days work in office person I dread the days other people are in; it's louder, the mbwa managers are bothering people, the toilets are a mess, and I get far less work done. Let people work where they're most productive, if a organization can't do that start pip-ing people who aren't working(the spyware is already in place), don't make the rest of us pay the cost of a worse workplace because you can't get rid of a few bad apples.

New WFH rules kick in March 1. The message from last year was we value and trust employees. The new message is we have no trust and do not value your contribution to our outstanding business results. We must justify middle management by giving them warm bodies every day to push their fingers on.

People make critical life decisions based on things like what Lal said. As to the post about outsourcing—okay HR. Nice try at astroturfing. Enjoy the support you get from an offshored resource. I’m sure it will be top quality. Also, unless it’s in the same time zone(s) you wouldn’t get a same-day response anyways, dum--ss.

You all don’t even return emails on your “work from home” days.
Far as we’re concerned, if you can do your job from home, they can outsource it to a lower cost country.

Remember in Lal’s webinar last year when he said he did not wanted to change to 4 days in office, but then he spoke to employees at different levels and changed his mind because he saw how it benefited everyone? Does WFH no longer benefit employees now? You’re exactly right that it’s a way to cut staff without layoffs. Ridiculous.
