2025 Layoffs

Does anyone have concrete knowledge that more rounds of layoffs are coming January 2025 or beyond?

Closures are already happening, Del Rio, TX and San Antonio. DM is trying to place employees in different stores. Looks like happening in waves to take advantage of normal attrition to save jobs. Get your resume ready, do the numbers, you or a store near you will be affected. The closure has a 60 day notice.

But like... layoffs ARE definitely happening in early '25?

Bad press not an issue for Walgreens. We have enough of it. Do not expect Walgreens to not do layoffs during holidays. They have no sympathy for employee impact.

I would imagine they wait until Q1 2025 as layoffs during the holidays just equates to bad press (and we can’t bare much more of that), However I have heard rumblings more may happen sooner.

I mean the 3 rounds of layoffs in 2025 are all but confirmed at this point, when comms falls into that mix is anyone’s guess. So many people have heard about them from different leaderships points. I have also heard there may even be another round this year. The company simply has no plan and does not care.

When do we think these layoffs will happen?
And as far as comms - this would include Field Comms? Corporate Comms? External?

Comms, finance, HR, IT are all being consolidated, the departments became too broad and complex. What can be outsourced will be and anything remaining will be streamlined up into one leadership group.

I would expect outsourcing the call centers would be under consideration. Of course customer service would decline but given Walgreen's current state, it's pretty poor already.

Regarding "Yes"...Any other call centers rumored to close besides Miramar?

Yes.

There are concrete reports that the company will close up to 1200 stores in the next three years. That equates to more rounds of layoffs in 2025.

There are also rumors circulating that suggest that other lines of business may be outsourced in 2025, possibly including Call Center sites in Miramar, FL. Probably rumors though.

If someone had something they would have posted it already. Just have your resume ready every company lays off.
