This is a generic discussion thread to capture comments about potential AES layoffs? Any chatter, news or rumors?

Reading comprehension is lacking among the chicken littles.
Where did I state the stock price was up due to the undesirables?
Said they are filling positions now that were left open from them.
Claiming that the increase in Stock price is “because undesirables were fired” is patently untrue. The layoffs were obviously not entirely based upon performance, there were really good people let go along, with low performers. There are a whole host of completely unqualified people still here in decision making capacities that have no idea what they are doing.
Hey genius commenting that stock is up “because undesirables were fired”, take a look at the rest of the market. The only reason AES is up is because index funds as a whole are up. There is no redeeming quality of AES of its own. It’s actually underperforming compared to other Fortune 500 companies. If you are a trader, you are either woefully unqualified at your job, or you are blatantly lying.
What’s this rumor of executives misappropriating funds? Has anyone else heard it? A bit concerning considering employees getting laid off have their severance at risk…
Where are the doom and gloom chicken littles?
Stock is up 4.6%
Finally filling positions again after the undesirables were cut loose.
AES is Strong!!!
Where is the kleeb the dweeb. Heard that him and KennyZDweebler are on the chopping block.
Have you noticed how Bernard has quietly disappeared from the picture, and now Ricardo has taken the spotlight? It seems to be part of a broader strategy: hide, replace, then recycle. Eventually, they reappear in different roles—promoted or repositioned. Don’t be surprised if, in two years, Bernard returns to the C-suite while Ricardo steps back to focus on protecting his business interests with the service provider in Argentina.
It no longer feels like AES is the "great place to work" it once promoted itself to be. On Glassdoor, the company’s rating has dropped significantly—from a solid 4.2 to a concerning 3.6—and continues to decline.
Operationally, serious issues persist. Utility customers are still experiencing problems with the new systems: inaccurate billing, missed statements, and even cases of double charging. The IT department appears to be in disarray—highlighted by the CIO's recent demotion—and the highly publicized $150 million digital transformation project has largely failed to deliver meaningful results. Unfortunately, it’s the customers who are bearing the brunt of this mismanagement.
Strategically, the company also seems adrift. While AES continues to champion green energy, its execution lacks reliability, and the initiatives have yet to prove they can sustainably support customer needs. Meanwhile, a perceived "management mafia" culture has taken hold, with incompetence observed at multiple levels—senior leadership, executive VPs, and across the C-suite (CEO, CFO, CIO, COO).
The company's decline is hard to ignore. AES stock is down nearly 50% compared to a year ago, and yet leadership remains unchanged. One has to wonder: how is the CEO still in place?
Hey where is RLow. A degree in history and pretending to understand fluid mechanics in wind energy. Now that is funny. MasTec threw the other one out after just 6 months and AES rehired it. A degree in environmental and pretending to know pre-construction. That is even funnier. How about the one with a degree in english who could imagine these clowns pretending to be wind energy experts. Just hilarious. Every EPC just sees change orders when these guys come rolling through the door and MasTec got a first hand look at the "talent" and threw it back in the water. What does that tell you?
It’s comical “Wind Team”. One of the Wind Team members left for Mastec and left when she realized how clueless she was about wind.
And now she back in a leadership role. Enough of the retread employees.
Just came on here to say...... take a look at the stock price of $9.92..... a SIXTEEN YEAR low..... but somebody beat me to it ;-)
I would prepare for more layoffs. One department has started cutting, already.
It is funny how the layoff did absolutely nothing to the stock price :)
Last time they laid people off before the earnings call. Seems like we're safe for another quarter as I haven't heard anyone getting cut.
Teams within IPL/DPL and Renewables are likely to be significantly impacted. AES has just released its financial results, and unfortunately, none of the reported figures meet or exceed Wall Street expectations. This is a serious situation. However, as is often the case, senior leadership appears to remain insulated from the consequences.
For those of you talking about additional RIFs coming, have you heard of timeline/which business units are expected to be impacted most heavily?
You should be getting it 5/2. I already received mine since I'm using a third party "early pay" service. You can also check your ADP.
Does anyone know when severance will start being paid out for those who were laid off?
As a member of Wind's management team, I have been informed that senior leadership remains dissatisfied with current corporate-wide performance projections, despite March's layoffs. Further organizational restructuring is now under active consideration.
AES is a sinking ship and they are not done cutting costs. It is going so far that I firmly believe they are now placing an emphasis on "workday goals" as a means to get more of a leg up on you, for non-performance, should you happen to not meet a very-subjective "workday goal." There are also multiple tasks we are expected to perform yet have no handbook or guidebook to do them, which I also believe is by design - so they have more they can "document" against you. AES Ohio (formerly DPNL) are still stuck in their "well that's how we've always done it" ways. You will shut up and keep your ideas to yourself, even if it means we operate at a LOSS.
If you are starving after a Month off. Then you obviously are an awful money person.
Guessing you are trolling, but if not. Then you really need to re examine your life choices.
I'm starving, any words on our severance paycheck? God please help my starving family
Any the RTO currently enforced ?
Maybe Lisa Krueger can save us all……we need another signaling colorful logo…..how about KennyZ….. I’m sure his expertise in all things energy will save us…. LOL
Rumors going around that top executives are getting their golden parachutes ready. This ship is about to sink. If you haven’t gotten out already, what are you doing? Why stick around to cover for the hubris of the executive team? They will fire you eventually to save themselves. Get out while you still can.
The good news for AES is that it will be bankrupt soon. Lot's of asset sales coming soon at discount prices. Thank you President Trump. I think the logo will be worth about $0.00
Just got my offer, thanks for the severance! #AllTogether
We already having heard good new from our friends, at least one of them got hired by Google and many more other offers.
Given the impact of the recent tariffs and the way AES stock is plummeting, it’s starting to look like those who got severance packages might be the lucky ones. The company seems to be in free fall, and if this trend continues, there may not be any severance left—just the pavement. Well… unless you're part of the untouchable inner circle: Andres, Bernerd, Ricardo, Evaristo, Norberto, and Aldemaro.
Then that gives you plenty of time to look for another job, unless you were one of the losers that were laid off. Then continue to whine.
No one has to leave, AES will be bankrupt in only a few more years. Just check out the debt and credit rating. Ticking timebomb.
Any updates on RTO?
If your Morale is low, leave. Nobody is forcing you to stay in a job you don’t enjoy for a company that you obviously are not happy with.
Thanks.
The new org charts are baffling because many talented individuals were let go, and inexperienced people were thrown in their place. How is this going to fix our problems? And of course, none of our problematic senior leadership were impacted. Great job making things worse instead of better. Morale is at an all-time low, and it's not going to get better anytime soon.
Does the cut affect all business units, including utilities? Additionally, does anyone have insights into AES Next's role? They seem to involve in many activities, but I’m curious about the tangible value they’ve contributed to AES.
This company operates like a mafia controlled by three key figures: Andrés Gluski, Bernerd DaSantos, and Evaristo Leonardi. Then there’s Ricardo Falu, who has personal interests in Serviços América Argentina—a group he founded and continues to defend. The personnel in that group are significantly more expensive than in the core business, yet they provide little to no value beyond serving their own interests.
In Argentina, this group exists solely to support itself, disregarding the actual needs of the business. When Bernerd makes a mistake, Ricardo gets promoted to COO. When Evaristo messes up, he disappears for a couple of years, only to resurface later as the COO of a different utility. This cycle continues: whenever one of them fails, Andrés, Ricardo, or Bernerd cover for them, hiding them until they can reappear—reloaded with higher salaries, bonuses, and new opportunities.
As I’ve said before, this company is corrupt at every level. It starts with the Argentina organization, which takes business positions without delivering real value. They remain untouched by any reductions or accountability, making the entire operation look highly suspicious.
I think that an internal investigation needs to be made by the SEC and the regulators.
Anybody has any insider info on promotions and merit raises? It sounded like they had it planned for April but on all hands call they said May or sometime in Q2. Are they gonna postpone it again?
The layoffs are a consequence of senior management’s mistakes, yet it is the everyday employees who are paying the price. Executives like the CEO, CFO, CIO, and COO made reckless "all-in" bets on green energy solutions—and they lost. However, they did not lose their salaries or bonuses. Instead, the burden fell on the employees who keep the company running daily. This reflects a severe level of incompetence at the top.
Beyond poor decision-making, internal agendas and personal interests also play a role. Why is top management dominated by Venezuelans? From the CEO to the COO to the VP of International Business, they all come from the same background, forming what appears to be a closed network. Some of them are even related by marriage. This is a publicly traded company, yet it operates like a family-run business. It raises serious concerns that these individuals have remained in power for years with little accountability.
Then there's the support organization in Argentina—one of the most ineffective teams within AES. They do not prioritize business needs or urgencies. Instead, they focus on holidays and leave the office at 4 PM. Their lack of knowledge, poor communication skills, and minimal English proficiency hinder their ability to support the business effectively. The failure of this organization is well-documented, and it's clear that business support should be reassigned elsewhere.
And what about Human Resources? Better labeled as “Inhuman Resources,” their primary function seems to be executing layoffs. They offer little in terms of employee benefits, performance evaluations, development plans, or proper compensation assessments like HAY grades. Their focus remains solely on workforce reduction, disregarding the well-being of employees.
This latest round of layoffs disproportionately affected lower-level employees while executive leadership remained untouched. EVPs retained their salaries, bonuses, and comfortable lifestyles, while over a thousand employees lost their livelihoods. The executives remain indifferent, enjoying the financial rewards while those below them suffer the consequences.
Re: The raise conversation below. I wonder about bonuses going forward too. I am not sure we can rely on getting 100% of our possible bonus anymore.
The utilities HR was useless for my tenure at aes. Routinely dismissing employee complaints and concerns about comments made to me. So much gaslighting. I should have left long ago. They’ve proven to be even more cruel and useless since the RIF. I was hoping the RIF would impact that team or at least Utilities leadership and President’s teams, for the sake of those who are still there, working tirelessly while leaders sit in hours-long meetings and don’t know how to do anything but hire their incompetent friends.
There is someone here that constantly blames everything on the "Boulder office". There is no "Boulder office", the office is in Louisville. They moved from Boulder to Louisville yeeears ago.
