"VMware professional services will be getting Hock Smashed on Thursday. At least 20% reduction to clear the bench..."
I can't confirm the timing, but the magnitude of the pso rif is accurate. For amer pso the plan is a 20% rif each quarter to reduce ftes, as services delivery is pushed to partners (goal is 70-80% of projects to be delivered by partners). I believe emea is taking a similar approach but not sure of the magnitude. Unclear whats happening in apj.

Any info on the severance packages and what it consist of
Resident engineers got his hard, I was one of many calls my manager said. My manager said that many CA products are on "Life Support," and Broadcom is not interested in the products. Something I suspected a while back. I assume they just want to sell new toys to the customer without maintaining legacy stuff.
On an internal call last week, a lot of product support is getting pushed out to 3rd parties. This is a train wreck; it will lead to unhappy customers and poorly supported products that the customer drops. Not a plan that is thought out well.
I'm taking this as my notice to get out and stay out; there will be no job security. Broadcom will eventually fail because it is not supporting its customers. Look at the number of customers dropping VM.
Adding to this, they are letting good people go; these good people are starting companies and joining the competition. Compounding the issue.
Hoc wants to run the company like a bank, not a technology company. The problem is you cannot do this; it will take time, but customer satisfaction will go down the toilet. Broadcom is a time bo-b... wall street will utter "what happened" when it's a dollar share... well they can read this post.
Sorry to hear this, hope everyone lands in their feet!
What teams/functions were affected ?
Your manager did some prep with some soft talk, mine directly started with bad news. It hit me hard as I didn’t expect it especially as it is a scheduled 1:1 with some time change.
What happens is your manager will move the 1x1 call to an odd time. Once the zoom meeting starts he will start reading a script, I assume from HR. It opens soft and you think “who is he talking about, it cannot be me”. Then probably half way in it will transition to talking about your severance package. Then it hits you. Honestly how can broadcom survive if they randomly fire their best employees? This makes no sense that top performers are let go.
Isn’t manager supposed to tell you thurs? How did you get notified today? Sorry to hear…
I got notified yesterday, not expected at all. I got rank 1 and a promotion before, so not sure what contributed to my layoff. Felt like a loser.
Was just notified today. This is the second Broadcom layoff for me. No reason was given, I was working well and had an excellent performance rating. This is just sick. I won’t be back to give them a third opportunity to can me…. Bye hoc….
Can you provide more details on the ESG layoff? Please.
Not even 2025. ESG has another round of layoff today1
Come and see, oh servants of the most high (Hock’s employees) . Thy souls shall be required of thee for 5% of all BUs in July of 2025… followed by large acquisition. Another 10% shall be culled in blood offering in October, 2025. Hock will be loved… HE WILL BE FEARED!!! May Silicon and Cupertino guide of thoughts and mind, AMEN.
Almost every company has layoffs 2025. Don't worry and be happy!
Like death and taxes, Broadcom drive-by layoffs are inevitable.
