Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

2500 Intel Israel company cars?

Can someone explain why Intel Israel has 2500 company cars under lease?

This was a benefit that was recently axed like coffee but then brought back because employees complained. According the the article it amounted to around 10% of the eligible Israeli employees total comp. Coffee I get. But 2500 company cars? Why does a primarily R&D site have that many company cars? Do all Israeli companies provide a similar benefit and Intel just has to match a culturally ingrained company benefit?

Car allowance is the common practice in Europe (https://bolt.eu/en/blog/car-allowance/). For example, Irish Intel employees have 15000 Euro annually car allowance (https://www.irishtimes.com/business/work/2024/08/17/intel-begins-consultation-with-irish-staff-on-job-cuts/) and Israel employees of grade 7 and above - about 11000 Euro annually before taxes

Give me 1 site @1syo and I'll check with some folks. Unless the manager is a GM or Sr.VP there is no assistant. And wtf is a top notch BMW ?

Benefits of employees in non-US sites would make your jaw drop. In some European sites I know managers with 10 people under them having BMW top notch sedans and a personal assistant! All expenses of the car (including gas) with personal use as well would be paid by Intel. On some sites, breakfast and lunch would be catered by private companies and would be completely free for all employees. The office spaces were leased in the most expensive and central areas of the big cities. The GPTW events used to be held in expensive restaurants (typically $150 per head) with unlimited alcoholic drinks. Working in the US compared to the sites in other geos is not appealing at all in terms of the standard of living and employment benefits. That's actually how Intel bleeded money for many years Now US employees cannot even get free fruit and coffee Great financial management that led to the $hit storm we are all in now!

If there is no office near you and you need to be in the remote location to do your job internet, cell phone or other home office necessities make sense

After that they are daily life

Sellers lost company cars a decade ago in America’s as cost cutting (market comps). Emea and other employee practices for cars and car allowances by grade are rediculous and only cause people to be complacent for that perk….rewards real contribution with bonus so people work to be successful…this is id--tic

CP should focus on shaping a culture that fosters excellence and development
Invest to succeed..

The cost cutting only view of the world is like bleeding a sick patient thinking you will starve yourself to health.

OMG! @mto+1voLLhEa you hit it right. Pat is now leading a bunch of his handpick mo--ns who are taking Intel out while making their own huge profit off it. And Pat ruined Larrabee pretty much single handedly with his own toxic personality and ego. No clue why the board brought him back.

Intels attack on employee benefits is just backfiring all over the place … the removal of cars/car allowances - which is a fairly normal part of compensation in Europe , was not thought though at the top (shock) , they had to backpedal on the policy for legal reasons :) - they can’t just do whatever they like !!!

It's basically a tax evasion strategy.

Id--ts... Intel doesn't have company cars, it's car allowance cash given to employees from certain grades, it's part of Israeli salary (the just call it car allowance so they won't have to pay social benefits in it

Also Pat's big mouth on Taiwan and TSMC cost him a 30% discount on fabbing Lunar Lake parts. Saying that Taiwan is a dangerous place and the US and Intel needs to divest from dangerous places.

Meanwhile Intel continues to pour billions of dollars into Intel Israel, in a country that is surrounded by enemies who constantly conduct te------t strikes against it.

What kind of logic is that? Oh right the kind of logic that said AMD in the rear view mirror, Apple is just a lifestyle company, and Nvidia is just lucky.

Pat still believes that Larrabee would have prevented Nvidia's rise.
