The layoffs have already commenced in Houston. While the efficiency of the process is commendable, it is disheartening to see the manner in which it was carried out. All exit interviews were conducted via Microsoft Teams, allowing the Norwegian manager to enjoy their afternoon coffee and Friday cake without disruption. As is often the case, it appears that profit has been prioritized over people. Equinor is letting go of highly valuable colleagues—or, in their perspective, individuals who were easier to terminate due to the lack of union protection. This is particularly disappointing after years of dedicated service to the company. However, I remain optimistic that better opportunities lie ahead for all of us.
