I view my job here as a temp job. And I act accordingly. I work strictly what I’m supposed to, don’t do any overtime, and I don’t put any extra effort into resolving issues or impacting the outcome. I’m not involved in team politics, I don’t care about mgmt, and I’m definitely not planning any career here. I’m also always on the lookout for other jobs, and if there’s a better one, I will not wait to be laid off and collect severance. I refuse to be a hostage to this company.

Just acquired- we are beingnused for the information needed and then jobs will be gone it sounds like from these posts. Optum people just do what leadership tells them to do.
And how is this different from any other corporation? All companies just a number that can be replaced or eliminated. You are special just like everybody else.
Knowing what you know now... and for those of us who have chosen to leave this toxic workplace and the others who have been affected by the rifs, this company is clearly not one of those "best places to work." Just the opposite, has to be one of the worst places to work, toxic, demoralizing, and disgusting. Don't drink the Kool-aid. The do not value knowledge. You are a tool to assist the top brass in earning their multi-million dollar bonuses. Their goal is to buy, fleece, dissolve and repeat. They either buy companies to take them out of the market and reduce their competition or they buy companies because they want the data (like they did with Change Healthcare) they wanted clearinghouse data to know what their competitors were paying for claims.
It's just that simple. If they can't beat you they buy you and then dump the people, steal data and and customers to make them their own. They lay off to reduce expenses then offshore to replace onshore at less than half the cost. Quality is irrelevant.
So get out when you can, you are a tool and an END to their means.
Good luck - - once you get out you will breathe better, sleep better, and function better.
That’s one of the wisest points of view I have read on this forum about this company! Good on you OP!!

You signed the “at will” employment document when you were hired. Treat the role as such.
I accepted that a long time ago.
