As many have said, the people I collaborate with regularly are not located here so I sit in a space with ear buds in my ears on teams, get up for a coffee and walk to stretch my legs like a zombie then back to the hole I’m allowed to be at to show my “excitement” about being back…so I can repeat the whole thing again. It’s great….so great…according to nobody ever.

If you're considering taking pension as a lump sum, hang on a few more weeks. The 417e segment rates have come down from Nov 2023 levels, so lump sum values will go up for those retiring in 2025.

Document what you heard your boss say about you. You may want that some day.

Keep drawing the paycheck, friend, but be prepared. Do your math to see if you can retire safely. If you want to keep working, starting looking now. Don't let the company or your boss take your joy. It's not the company it was.

I put on my most positive attitude and dove back in this week. It was nice to meet new people and see familiar people, but being in person made it even more obvious that I am no longer valued. I feel sidelined, under appreciated, and almost completely invisible. I also didn’t realize how thin the office walls and doors were until I overheard a discussion about me that my boss was having in his closed door office with a coworker via Teams. It’s very hard to know when it is time to retire, but today I’m pretty sure that’s what I need to do. I’m trying not to overreact, but I don’t even want to be here the 45+ day lead time they say it takes to retire. Hopefully I can be out by year end and try to shake off this overwhelming feeling of disappointment in my career.

In the labs? Not much change. Most people were in pretty regularly already. Maybe not every day but most days. I notice a few more people now that I rarely saw before, but nothing dramatic. The quad will be where you SHOULD see a big difference if people are complying.

Sounds like we need som mandatory team training in order to learn how to interact with one another again. Call in the consultants.

I went back in this week, under JG16. What stuck out to me was that I only visibly saw 1 person JG16+. They are supposedly there to lead by example but are not seen amongst the commoners. It was an overall cold welcome back and the common theme was the lack of work occurring in the office (including "collaboration"). People were attempting to find corners to hide to get real work done.

Based on the cars in the parking lots and the people in the skyway, there were fewer than 1000 people in attendance.

I did a lot of my collaborating via Teams yesterday.

I think they will need to take a look at the hotel policy. It isn’t working. They should assign spaces

Its not all negatives. The cool thing about being back now is that if youre a good showman it matters again. I do not spend much time doing deep work or much work at all for that matter but put me in a room full of people and i can impress easily. Talk a good game, have nice drip, and youre going places!!

The center is packed full, not enough space to work since everything had been turned into a hotel spot. No privacy for confidential calls or meetings. But at least we get to see 100’s of zombies getting their steps in. If you thought WFH was not productive, the sight of people walking laps all day will blow your mind.
