Given all the reports about layoffs a week ago and general trends, I can only assume that there’s no bright future for me here. Q for other remote colleagues: if you are looking for other opportunities, how often or if at all you come across remote jobs? I’m, so to speak, geographically challenged, and being remote is more of necessity than privilege. If you were lucky, please share and lift my spirits.

I left a few weeks ago and am now working at one of Fiserv's biggest clients - fully remote. Update your resume and start applying to remote jobs on LinkedIn. I'm a project manager and replaced someone who just didn't work out in this position. The job market in general is always rough in Q4 because most companies are trying to end the year without incurring new expenses (i.e. your salary). It really opens up by mid-Q1 each year as companies realize they need those additional resources. Start looking asap so you can really be picky about where you go next. Look at this site and Glassdoor when considering any offers to ensure you aren't jumping from one toxic culture into another.
Laid off in early 2023 because I was remote. Knew it was coming so I'd brushed up my resume and started applying months in advance. Ended up with 2 remote job offers to choose from. It helped to emphasize my fintech experience and software security experience.
How are you so surprised that Fiserv remote positions will be eliminated? This has been a trend for a long time.
Remote jobs are highly coveted. Good luck competing with all the other people leaving companies implementing RTO + rest of the world. Market isn't too hot so you should settle for hybrid until it picks back up again.
