I’ve been trying to find something else ahead of all store closings and probably more layoffs. We obviously have no serious plan for restructuring and growth, and it doesn’t make sense to just wait to be booted. I’ve been trying for months now, and no luck. I’m beginning to panic a little. What’s your experience with job hunting?

The market is tough for jobs. Retail sector is hiring with holidays here. Just be certain to verify you are looking for positions they will be h8ring for are not just holiday jobs. You are doing the right thing looking before they drop the layoff boot again. It's definitely a dying company with no direction.
I was a GM for 15 years and finally had enough over the summer. Got a new Store Leader job at a big box retailer and my pay has more than doubled and, believe it or not, less stress involved. Have plenty of help at the manager, supervisor and associate level to be able to delegate to and frees me up to oversee the whole operation. Wish I did this 5 years ago.
Decided to leave over the summer and found a great new position. Feels great on the other side! Still reading here since I'm worried about friends and colleagues.
