What are your thoughts about potential Gannett layoffs? Any chatter, news or rumors?

Gannett product team had layoffs on March 20th 2025. Surprising because the people affected were new comers and long tenured employees.
Gannett continues to use Google as the answer to their inability to generate ad revenue. They're laying off the wrong tier of workers. Management continues to bungle the company up. New leadership is as effective as their old leadership. Kate Gutman is gone and her minions remain who hired about a dozen people in the past 2-3 years and most of them are already terminated. The company was bleeding money in 2020-21 and bad decisions were made. Where's the money spent on recruiting those people? Where's the money that they were being paid coming from? At one point it looked like streaming was our future but I think that entire team is gone already also. When is Mike Reed going to wake up? We have a content monetization team who continues to not monetize the content and we're making less of it every day. They continue to change the name of the team but I see the same people leading it.
