Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

Should I jump ship?

Haven't been impacted on the last round. Joined 3 years ago and saw my sales team go from 12 to 4 (myself included). During the consultation redundancy phase I got a new job 48% less but remote and in a tech company that has just become public 1k employees. Should I jump ship and take the job paying less. Or wait till next round? That should be in 6 months time?

Answer is obvious if you intend to take charge of your career and livelihood.

Run.

AI is coming…. The larger the company the bigger the cuts.

Dont listen to the naysayers. Staying at dell for another x years is ruining your resume for another x years. It's a resume stain that you don't want to grow.

Can you juggle both jobs with Dell as the throwaway job?

I honestly think you should consider taking that offer. I certainly would. I feel like I missed my chance to leave Dell. Been here too long and not having success finding a job. I know staying here 15+ years has had a devastating impact on my career. If you have an opportunity, run for it.

Don’t join start up that went public recently. Chances are you will get fired from that company within a year. Since you have completed 3 years over here, wait to collect your severance package.
