Paramount Global is cutting 3.5% of its U.S. workforce - several hundred employees - as part of ongoing cost reduction efforts. The company notified staff on Tuesday morning, with most affected workers getting notification that same day.
This is the latest in a series of layoffs at Paramount. Last August, they already cut 15% of their U.S.-based workforce. The cuts are happening while the company deals with cord-cutting hurting traditional TV revenue and waits for regulatory approval of their planned merger with Skydance Media.
The merger has been delayed by a legal dispute between CBS and the Trump administration over a "60 Minutes" interview with Kamala Harris.
Paramount's three CEOs said the cuts might also affect international staff over time. They called the layoffs necessary to address current market conditions and position the company for future success.
The media industry is seeing widespread job cuts right now, with Disney and Warner Bros. Discovery also reducing headcount recently. Paramount had about 18,600 employees globally as of December before these latest cuts.RetryTT

I've had it up to here with his attitude and alful leadership. everyday is struggle to make money with chris mccarthy's tv show ideas. is there anybody else who can run MTV? i don't understand why he gets to reboot every show under the sun that always destined to fail and my show that I've worked very hard on never sees the light of day? my therapist says the way chris mccarthy is running the organization is ridiculous.
