Severance pay

Can I please get some help. I’m reading the separation documents and as I understand it severance pay will end if I’m rehired by the company but I am not seeing anywhere it will end if I’m hired by a different company. Am I wrong or missing something? I have not found anything yet but still hopeful I’ll find something within 6 months

For a fact, you have to wait until your separation date in your documents to accept outside employment. I have talked to colleague relations and HR multiple times. I know people are saying “how would they know” I’m not willing to take that chance.

Be ready for a tanking economy with tariffs and inflation on the way

I think also if you deny a job for their job placement service they will cut you off. I had it happen to someone in the last layoff. The job offered was nothing comparable to what they used to do about 25k less than what they were making so denied and immediately severance was cut.

After your non working g period you can work for any company except cvs or an affiliate and still receive severance.

You get the severance if you find a job at another company. Your severance stops if you find a job at cvs.

Unemployment can be collected when you are not working but it depends on your state whether you can collect during severance or have to wait until severance ends.

You cannot collect unemployment if you get a job at cvs or any other company.

Contact an employment lawyer. No one on here is qualified to answer your question.

It ends if you are rehired by CVS/AETNA. I found a position early on and saved my severance. That way if you do not like the position you have something coming in while still looking.

I would not wait however, job market is still pretty tough.

You should be able to continue severance if you get a new job but not sure if they will cut you off if they find out you have new employment. Unemployment varies by state and my state would not allow a claim until severance was done and if you are still unemployed.

It has taken many people 6-12+ months to get a new job and in this current economy, it could take longer (depends on skills, experience, education, geography, etc.). Things may improve, depending on the outcome of the election.

You get all of the severance pay no matter what, unemployment you can’t collect upon getting a new job of course. But, you can collect that also for a few months. after severance.
