Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

Does Dell make you repay signing bonus/relocation?

I received a sign on bonus & relocation from Dell. If I leave before 2 years, then I will technically owe a significant amount back. Does anyone know if Dell will chase you down for this or ignore it? I know some companies don’t.

Depends on the cost, but regardless of that, you will be ineligible for rehire or new hire at subsidiaries. The company also has the option to report nonpayment to credit bureaus but seldom does.

It varies. I know of some who were asked to return the money (about $10K), ignored the request, and that was the end of it. Dell is not going to go after you for smaller amounts because it is not worth the trouble and expense. Also go back and read the documents that you signed when hired - there night be an out for involuntary actions.
