Lennox Industries, the third-largest private employer in Marshalltown, Iowa, will lay off 62 employees effective August 1, 2025, according to a state WARN notice. The company stated the cuts are due to adjustments in production to normalize inventory levels following the 2025 low-GWP (global warming potential) regulatory transition, and that future staffing will align with business needs. UAW Local 893, which represents Lennox workers, declined to comment. Marshalltown’s Chamber of Commerce acknowledged the impact of trade and tariff disruptions and expressed hope that Lennox will emerge stronger, while also pledging support to affected workers through Iowa Workforce Development. In addition, UScellular laid off 7 local employees on July 1 as part of its $4.4 billion sale to T-Mobile, expected to close in mid-2025. Most UScellular staff were offered roles at T-Mobile, and those not retained are receiving severance and employment transition assistance.
