Do you think there may be small/medium/large Paccar layoffs? Any chatter, news or rumors?

The Kenworth Plant in Chillicothe, Oh, is down to 3 days a week and the truckers that deliver them are down to driving out singles instead of decked sets. Third party carriers are out and the Kenworth truckers (Active USA) will be probably laid off soon starting with a voluntary layoff. No hope in sight. Who wants to buy a truck when you don't know if, when or what will happen in the next day, let alone the next year. These tariffs are ki-ling us.
Paccar Engine Columbus plant has drastically reduced its workforce by ending its weekend operations as well as 3rd shift machining and a large portion of 2nd shift machining. There are 7 scheduled shutdown days including a week in July. Morale is very low despite a massive investment underway for the mx-14 engine going live this year. Construction continues on the reman facility which will share a campus with the current plant in Columbus MS. Almost all hiring/movement has stalled, and employees are running multiple processes during their shift. The worst is they shifted machine operators back to the assembly line and cut their pay back to level 1. Some have lost $11-15+ per hour.
They let go of 5% of their workforce (allegedly) in Feb/March 2025. I've seen some LinkedIn posts go up of some that were let go (mostly the ones from the Renton office).
Word is there will be a plant wide between 1/17-1/24. Build rate will drop to 72 trucks for days and 34-38 trucks for evenings. More shutdown days looming around the corner, and the powers that be are considering 3-4 day work weeks. Not because of supplier issues like the past , but because the $100M project to implement AGV’s for front line production is malfunctioning so bad that the expected number of trucks can hardly be reached. Things just don’t work like they did in the 90’s anymore, glad I did my 30 and got out of dodge! Good luck folks
