TD might be laser-focused on cutting costs by replacing older workers with younger, cheaper talent, but they’re missing a huge point. The new hires are all about strict job descriptions and protecting their personal time at all cost. Not to mention, they have no issues with bouncing between jobs. This is guaranteed to spell trouble down the road when the experienced veterans are no longer around to hold things together.

Who is an experienced veteran, and how are they holding things together?
Another team recently hired a techie grad who had only ever used a mac. Never used Linux, never heard of putty and couldn't even use the Windows pc he was supplied with. I'm sure he'll be an asset in 10-15 years time. Meanwhile he has his data warehouse for dummies guide on his desk.
I was rif'd a while ago.
After I left they replaced me with a young woman fresh out of college who left Teradata in 5 months. They replaced her with another young women who left in 3 months.
By the time this played out the brain drain was conplete and all tribal knowledge was lost. Management had to pick up the pieces and cobble together something to keep the plates spinning.
In the end Teradata is sc--wed.
Completely agree! My position was RIFed last Halloween, only to be recreated about 6 months later, filled by a contractor fresh out of college bearing no relevant experience and for about 60% less compensation.
