Thread regarding Optum layoffs

You have 3 options

Anyone staying in place is going to be getting more work, and higher expectations, for the same pay.

3 options really:

  1. Stay in place and take it.
  1. Watch the internal job reqs for 1-2 gradesabove where you are and app spam anything you can tolerate. Moving up 1 grade is a minimum ~24% salary bump, beats the sh-t out of staying put for 1-4% on your annual if you are lucky.
  1. Leverage the "prestige" of having Optum/UHG on your CV and apply to other orgs. If you aren't totally worthless, your experience here is frequently worth a 40-50% bump moving to BCBS/similar or a regional outfit or provider network. We all know this place is a clown show, but Optum/UHG is frequently treated as a prestigious and desirable background by a TON of external hiring managers. Play that up and get paid.

Good luck, and don't stay where you aren't appreciated!

Perfectly put, @bqw+1v220rvn.

I know that it's bleak and depressing.

I'm looking for another job but I also started working OT. I'm trying to make a least half a weeks pay every week in OT so my check has 1 "extra" weeks pay in and then putting that in my savings account. If it comes to it unemployment is a % of gross pay from the previous quarter worked so if I am laid off in Jan since I worked OT all this quarter my unemployment check will be closer to what my regular check would have been and not lower. I'm hoping this way if I can't find a job I'll have a few months pay in my savings account plus 6 months of unemployment at close to what my regular check would have been. I am applying to new jobs daily so hopefully it won't come to that but I need a plan to stay somewhat afloat financially.

Okay Andrew Deary, you’re gonna get tired of seeing this but quit trying to deflate your employees free will. You are worse than a “bot”.

Im hanging around for the package. I trying to delay it for a little bit to get my next job lined up. I may have to two jobs simultaneously until the package arrives. At least I can ask to be let go once I start working the second job.
