Problem is if you dont invest in cleaner energies now as well as oil/gas, you will be left behind later. It will take time to see return on investments here... hard time for oil/gas traditional companies to find footing and long term growth. Investors what stock increase NOW and Company needs to be now and future looking..

IEC. A term coined by BL to look super smart and progressive. How many other companies have followed? None.

Perhaps the market is aware that the long term prognosis for oil and gas isn’t good, and that bp has made a hash out of transitioning to an IEC. Maybe the market would prefer us to pick a strategy and stick to it?

Which raises the questions, why does the market not react positively to such high prices? One part is at the time the market didn't think the record profitability is sustainable, which of course proved true. The 2nd part is the market also discounts bp's poor management, at the end of the day, what good are record profits if management will plough it into share buybacks that proved over decades to be a waste of money, and/or awful acquisitions; pulse, archaea, TA....so in summary the market has its point even if we don't agree fully on the magnitude of its response....

I don’t think our share price has anything to do with our results anymore. We had record profits the last few years and it barely made our share price blip.
