Legacy CHC here from the GV office in TX. Counting my days but some days I think I’ll be fine. Guess we will see what happens!

UHG/Optum is an acquisition company disguised as a healthcare organization. They are in business to make money, not necessarily provide high quality healthcare or improve the healthcare system (that is all smoke and mirrors). They use is as a veil. They are in business to make profits and increase shareholder value. Full STOP

They buy companies for 1 of 2 reasons, one is because they want your data to try and undercut the market (Change Healthcare - clearinghouse data so they can see what their competitors are playing etc.) Now that they have it, have violated ALL the agreements that the DOJ imposed, they have begun to dismantle Change Healthcare. They have "chosen" not to bring certain products back up since the incident and therefore are having major layoffs. Each round more and more. They don't see the value in the smart Change Healthcare workforce as they know too much and are smart.

The second reason they purchase companies is to reduce their own competition in the marketplace - just like Landmark Health. They bought them to take them out of the market so that Optum no longer had to compete with them. They bought 'em, dismantled them, closed almost all of their offices and by Jan 2025, Landmark will be shut down and all of their employees will be gone just like MedExpress and others.

They do not value individuals with intrinsic knowledge, they do not value smart individuals either. You are just an expense. You will be replaced by cheap, unknowledgeable offshore labor at a majorly reduced cost - basically a warm body.

They don't value their customer's either. They do not give a hoot about customer satisfaction or their business. They are a churning machine.

Unless you have a huge package or golden parachute, don't wait. Get out while you can. It's easier to get a job when you have a job. Plus it is my understanding from several colleagues who were rif'd, that they don't pay much severance and it takes weeks to get it which means that you cannot even apply for unemployment until they choose to pay you the severance.

Good luck All - it pains me to see all these posts. Take care of yourselves.

There are still quite a few of us still at Optum.

I concur with the other's comments.. I am legacy CHC, but 6 of my CHC coworkers were just let go in the October RIF. I have no doubt they are getting rid of Legacy CHC; it is clear Optum only wanted the clearinghouse, not the people, in this acquisition.

There are very few legacy CHC people still here and those of us who are just continue to do whatever we are asked, fly under the radar and hope to stay off the RIF lists for a while longer. That said, it is getting harder and harder to do with each passing day, especially when you see people you have worked with for 20+ years get laid off but absolutely useless, lazy, not helpful, definitely not customer oriented Optum people still around or, watching Optum tear your original and successful product apart or make it essentially impossible to access to access the tools you need to support it. Optum does not care AT ALL about client satisfaction, the time it takes to provide assistance or the terrible things clients say about them as a company. They got the CHC clearinghouse and all that came with it and that was all they wanted. Makes me sick to keep hearing how an API can replace actual people! Seriously, an API cannot call a client for clarification or verification as to how to resolve an issue and add code to prevent it from happening again going forward. I was told by someone recently, “Let’s face it, we all know Optum doesn’t like employing actual people”…how twisted is that?

Optum doesn’t want us. They wanted the clearinghouse! They got it! Legacy CHC employees will be gone by December

Some of us are still here but they sure have been cutting us lose left and right. At this point I think most CHC employees are just counting the days until they get their phone call.

Hello, I'm part of one of the acquisitions by Change Healthcare. There are still a number of departments, though they have been whittled down over time. Based off who they let go this last time I think it's fair to say all of our days are numbered. Still here for now.
