I know for certain that the next NLSN wave of layoff is in progress now (as of 11/6), and will be announced / given to those people soon (~December round prior to 12/10).

The timing is "likely" next week, or after thanksgiving for US holiday.

IF I had to guess, it would be 1st week of December.
Not sure of the number of people, but it will be a large one.

As stated their goal is moving "as much as possible to the GCCS".
So if you think your safe, its only a matter of time.

Engineering is making list of those that have Office (At this time) (certain versions so the licenses can be taken back to NLSN) so it can be either downgraded, removed, prior to either transfer to other branches, or full layoff.

Some parts of NLSN are being sold off, and as such, the machines, people, and license all have to be accounted for.

Additionally, NLSN likes and has a tradition of a mass layoff, for the last 10 years, for pink slips, the 3rd week of December.
Happy holiday... :(

And before anyone says something, NO I am not a troll, and the information submitted, is real.
I am not sure of numbers, yet. Do not be blind sighted, like I was in the November round of many.

I can not say much, as specific details, would put me in an very very small group, of people with information.
Its ALL moving to India, GCCS. I had 10 years, so figure that into your accounts.

As someone in tech for a LOOOONG time, yes companies are offshoring for good. QA is rapidly leaving the states, and a lot of devops and engineering positions are too. Even PMs. While tech layoffs are now the normal, it didn’t used to be THIS frequent. You’re lucky to last 2.5 yrs anywhere at this point in time. More and more tech will be gone, jobs that will NOT come back because companies are building permanent offices in Brazil, Argentina, the Balkans, India, China, you name it. I’m trying to hang on for retirement in less than twenty years. I really feel for the younger work force. It’s awful and won’t get better unless the US decides to stop letting companies do this sh-t. Job creators for who exactly? Not us. Salaries are falling. Benefits are falling.

I’m not trying to be a downer, and Nielsen’s offshoring is because the company was run by mo--ns who destroyed it but other companies are making massive amounts of money at our literal expense. I don’t begrudge someone taking a job in another country, we all are trying to survive, it just means we’re extra fu--ing sc--wed.

People are all worried, just use this time to either find a new job or relax. I have been getting so many home projects done, playing call of duty, couldn’t care less about the company anymore.

No not every company is doing this.

Nielsen has been outsourcing to India for almost 20 years. I have never worked for a company like Nielsen where layoffs were an annual thing. Maybe Amazon and Google but those tech workers know that’s just the game.

So to more directly answer your question… yes there is more job security elsewhere

Everyone here keeps saying to look for job somewhere else because Nielsen is offshoring all jobs but every other company out there is doing the same.

Just how safe will you be somewhere else???

Why do people keep asking this? They said in beginning of 2024 that pretty much all roles are moving to GCCs. Besides that how much of a future do you think this company has after it’s gutted

Follow the advice here and look for a new job now unless you get months of severance.

At least an early November cycle already launched. I know several with mid month notifications already.

Our leadership has told us layoffs are done. You can believe that if you want. I would think they wouldn't do more before the end of the year but it'll probably start up next year with more "fiscal goals."

Well, the year’s not quite over yet, and it seems like there’s still some trimming left on the agenda….

Layoffs end when there are no employees except c suite outside a GCC

Or Nielsen goes out of business first

I'm hoping the answer is no, but I'm aware that's most likely wishful thinking.
