Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

So many people seem to be checked out and apathetic

The management doesn't care about employees so the employees don't care about their jobs anymore. I know so many folks who used to give it their all who are now mostly going through the motions. We're all in the "give back as much as you get" mode, and we're not getting all that much.

If you are 67+ why are you still working? Know when to quit son!

The reality for me is that XOM is not the company I joined 25 years ago. Faced with a reloc deadline of July 1st and no way to significantly increase my pension (I’m 67+). I am choosing to work elsewhere. I can literally get pennies on the dollar at my next gig and be better off financially. So I’ll just say it “I stayed too long”

Every bone in DW is transactional. Zero value for relationship. Culture is driven by leadership. No one is jumping in a grenade to save DW.

It’s so true. I am one of the many who has always been a driven overachiever. Was an experienced hire 10+ years ago, and XOM finally beat all of the self-motivation right out of me this past year. Why try when hard work & great results are not rewarded? Doing base business only now.

When you’re told your ranking wasn’t based on the work you did, then why bother?

The entire workforce is checked out and apathetic.

There’s no reason to do more than go through the motions at any job. Do what’s in the job description. That’s what your pay is based on. If they want more they can pay more.
