Does anyone actually know if there is any meaning behind those that got the expiration message or if it’s just really horrible timing?

There are leaks in SLT and middle mgmt that always share before it is official. If you know you know. And the rumor mill usually has the info at 80% reality if history repeats.
Just curious about how it works. Why would only some users receive an expiration notification and not others?
To the last comment, no one is saying there won’t be layoffs, calm yourself down. We are saying that the Microsoft message has nothing to do with the layoffs. I have gotten multiple messages over the years for this, it happens all the time. Layoffs are inevitable but not tied that
Well, I’m glad you have such faith in Staples that you think they would never do xyz to employees before a downsizing. That would never happen……..oh wait - they went over a retail store restructuring which saw Tech Sup and SM losing their jobs in a PowerPoint to GM’s on a Friday and weren’t rolling it out until the next week and said PowerPoint wound up on Reddit over the weekend. They also told GM’s in entire state of CA on a conference call that the Price Checker position was being eliminated and ended up on Reddit before those hurt by the move were told. Yeah, this SLT would never mess something like this up. You’re right!
The Microsoft Office thing has nothing to do with layoffs. I can't believe people are still acting like it is. It was an error by Microsoft Office. Staples wouldn't take access away from a person getting laid off. That has never happened. It's like comparing apples and oranges. I am sure there will be people that get laid off that got the message, BUT there will be people who didn't get that message either that also get laid off.
Layoff notifications go out on Wednesday but last day worked would be the Friday of the week (in some cases), which may explain it expires on a Friday.
wow lol about this microsoft message, this thing in particular is not a sign anyone is getting let go. There’s a way to resolve it, I just can’t remember the steps but go to file in either outlook or excel and and there’s a section where you just update and resign back in and your good to go.
Layoffs are never on Fridays, almost always Wednesdays. First Wednesday of Q4 is November 6
I have a friend in HR that confirmed there is going to be layoffs and the Microsoft expiration was sent mistakenly but they can’t retract it since it’s 3rd party. Law suit waiting to happen for you all. Take advantage while you can. No one else will look out for you.
The Microsoft O365 license expiration date was 11-8-24 which is next Friday. It hit many departments. No one else on my team received it but me. I believe layoffs will be on the 8th.
The card on file declined and was reloaded for payment. All is good. We are back to normal, let's all focus on the holidays. Get back to selling you hacks.
Microsoft expirations have nothing to do with layoffs. That would be incredibly convenient. It must have been isolated to certain departments or something as I never received anything. It's hard not to think that layoffs are coming though regardless of this snafu.
I’m wondering if it was a meaningless error, why didn’t they send out a company wide email informing people of it?
If you believe that, I’ve got a bridge in Brooklyn I’ll sell you. The ineptitude exudes from every corner of this company. Resume ready and start interviewing. If you’re not let go this next round, they’ll get you eventually.
I am not going to site my source for risk of exposure but can 100% confirm this was a in error.
Does it eliminate the possibility of layoffs - no.
But don’t bother researching for hours over it
apparently the "productivity team" confirmed that the notification of licenses expiring was a mistake, but they want us to submit tickets so they can measure full impact of the error.
I want to know this as well.
