Estimated to be 3000 people, their fine wine division called Signature or Domaine & Estates Artisanal Wines was effected with most layoffs beings salespersons, low and mid level managers as well as some trade development persons. They did a similar reorg back in 2018 and laid off of a bunch of employees during the height of the pandemic into the worst job market for the alcohol industry since prohibition. They preach Family in their HR rhetoric and selling craft products but in reality you are just a number to them if they work there and they only really focus on the top seller, biggest brands they represent.

"SGWS is far and away the best company I have ever worked for."
When SGWS offers you job back be prepared to be offered half your salary when you were laid off. That is what they did the last time they did this in 2018. They don't care anymore about knowledgeable and experienced employees, just someone who can accurately take an order from a buyer.
They have built their catalog full of wines that "sell themselves" ( Barefoot, Meiomi, Josh, Veuve Clicquot etc....)
SGWS is far and away the best company I have ever worked for. Getting laid off in my case was done in person. As always when layoffs happen at SGWS we will be first choice when opening occur.
13 years with the company to be let go over zoom. Rough, I guess that’s how you treat FAMILY!!
