Thread regarding CVS layoffs

Nothing but a number

After two decades, it feels like I was nothing but a number. I was always on time, going the extra mile, and never received a single complaint about my work. None of that did me any good. Here I am, jobless and frustrated. CVS, you should be ashamed. That's all I really have to say.

For 24 years I gave up time with my family just so I meet deadlines. I was let go too. We are all just a number

I really do think there's a person on here constantly stiring the pot. Trying to get a rise from the real ex employees and current employees. It would be one thing if they really had anything informational or inside insights but it looks like they just want to keep racist, ageism, toxicity going.

I was laid off 2020 credentialing implementations and guess what I didn't sign a damn contract or NDA. And yes everyone knew I and one other were laid off in my department and other shared services people knew as well. And yes I had six months serance package. So, yeah I call bs to certain titles not able to talk.
Also my LD 2023 was laidoff, everyone knew as the other LD practically flung it our fave as he took her reports. Externally she couldn't talk about it as she had her six months servance expired and she was under an NDA.
So yeah I call bs for certain titles not able to talk about it
Clearly the VBS person had zero problems as well

To the person that think everything is fake it isn’t when it come to layoffs. The layoff agreement state not discuss it with anyone or lose their pay. The contract they had to sign not disclose nothing. That is why some don’t say department. If it is only 1 laid off their department CVS will take their money easy to locate the person. I saw the 60 page contract they had to sign it isn’t pretty. I used to work for Aetna since 2007. I notice the trend more years and age they cut you. Aetna people made way more the CVS low pay. So CVS cut people close to retirement past 50 days which is just 1 reason they get laid off. The worker’s performing bad surely chopped doesn’t matter years of age. My supervisor told me long time ago 1st rounds of layoffs she can’t control who they pick but she would fight for me. I stayed retired after 15 years. My heart goes out to my fellow Aetna workers we used love working at Aetna and I loved my job. I was top performer and worked scared to be laid off. CVS is king of Layoffs I was told when they took over nobody is safe good mean nothing. CVS just laid off employee 38 years with Aetna how jacked up is that no loyalty to their employees. There will be more layoffs I don’t know when but that is CVS do.

So sorry. I have been there 19 years never a complaint about my work. Twice in the last 3 mos my boss has told me someone told. Her something I said and it’s not true however she won’t tell what was said and asked me why I said it. How can I know if you won’t tell me. Waiting for the boot to drop

There was a time here where within a team people cared about each other, would send baskets or send support if a team needed it (bereavement, New baby, etc).

There was a time where people would meet in person, where you knew your coworkers kids names. Attended their weddings.

Somehow narcissists are in charge.in middle management Somehow those people stayed in charge, even if they lied on resumes. They never left.departments...and here we are.

Sometimes family meant literal family...

Maybe at a small place but I’ve never felt I mattered or had loyalty to a 300k person company. This job even with decent co workers has always been cold and transactional. Past two years here have solidified that feeling.

Regardless, our employers only care we make them money and you can find fulfillment out of being decent at it but anything else you’re setting yourself up for hurt. Fu-k them for mismanaging regardless.

Number of years mean very little tbh, its like dollars in the bank, loses value due to inflation every year.

My manager told me once that the way they knew a leader was shady and would tend to misuse you is if they started talking about how we're a family.

We're not family, never delude yourself into thinking a monolithic organization cares about you. Your family isn't going to wake up one day and tell you thanks for your contributions, but unfortunately you're no longer needed. This is a business, employees provide value, but they also represent a cost to the business. You are just a number.

The company will let you go if they need to, and you should let them go when you need to or get a better opportunity. Going the extra mile should be a calculated risk/reward behavior to try and get yourself a higher rating (which means a slightly higher raise and bonus), or in time a promotion, or to help a specific person out because you want to. Otherwise, why would you? Because you care about the company that will not ever care about you? Don't be naive, friend.

Best of luck to you.

Do Not post the section you worked for. Each group was given a number to cut. People are under separation agreements.

People need to understand that this a job that lets you pay your bills. Companies will use to make money. This is not your family or where you make friends.

Why do people expect more from their job other than getting paid? Of course you need to be treated fairly and with respect but at the end of the day it’s a job.
