Thread regarding Cargill layoffs

SAP the down fall of Cargill! Would’ve liked being the SAP salesperson that talked Cargill into this

This SAP journey has taken 10+ years and the managers that don’t have anything to do with the actual day to day work don’t have a clue how bad this is. The inside joke is that they think SAP will allow us to do the same with less folks! Again, SAP sold Cargill a lot of BS! We were already struggling with not having enough folks that know actually how to use SAP, now they get rid of more people-LOL. We have folks leading Cargill down to the depths of other company’s that are promoting DEI initiatives and not promoting the “best” person for the jobs! Think of the last 5-10 years how many of your managers have been promoted to only allow Cargill to check off the DEI box!——how is that going? I miss the days that the Cargill family ran this company. Until the family wakes up and gets control of this sinking ship Cargill will continue to follow all the other weak companies down the same path! For those of you who have lost your jobs—-you all will be great additions to Cargill’s competition, which I hope you’ll always remember this….Go get them!!!

Definitely agree over the past few years our managers are not being selected by what they know, but instead who they are! Major companies have already recognized that the DEI pathway was NOT the correct way and they have made corrections. I hope Cargill sees the light and does the same, but from my advantage point in Mpls they still don’t get it! Classic Cargill—-always late to react to major industry changes! I have a front row seat to watch this major storm continue to build strength and take this company down a road of blaming its people for poor performance instead of its inept leadership. Lastly, I’m not sure the Cargill family is aware or could even change this direction if they wanted!

Plenty of good software deployments gone wrong due to poor change management or reduced funding after year 1.

Implement expensive software cheaply then fail to realize it's true value.

SAP roll out a BIG MESS 10 years on and many more to come It will beed Cargill dry as they don’t know how to manage Deloitte and they in turn are milking it till the cows come home. It will never get sorted there is no central plan just reactive efforts migrating bits here and there. It will fall in its backside and continue to hurt the financials

Same thing happened across town at 3M. They kicked off SAP deployments around 2007 (known as Polaris over there, same as Tartan at Cargill). Still not done yet. Yes, the assumption is that SAP would enable reduced headcount. At 3M they were calling this "value realization", and they were told they could save billions. Now they're stuck using both old legacy systems and a half-implemented SAP system. Quite the nightmare.

The only ones that made money out of SAP were Deloitte and SAP itself.

Cargill’s leadership is the one to blame……. They repeatedly did all the things you SHOULD NOT DO when implemented SAP.

The simplest of processes are often turned into Rube Goldberg machines to account for every possibility imaginable. This culture of complex completeness and optionally must be addressed before anything changes with the SAP implementations.
