That's 1650 bbls. It's not considered a small leak by anybody. Not Enbridge, not the regulators... nobody thinks this is small. For contrast, historically 95% of inland spills are less than 24 bbls.
It's not a monster... but it's significant. And because it was uncontained for an extended period there are things that must be determined about the environmental impact.
Because 70,000 gallons is classified as a small leak by the Regulators. All oil and gas companies have leaks this size and are not required to be reportable by the regulator to the public. Only requirement is for the Oil company to report it to the regulator.
Seema like everything is falling apart at Enbridge, nothing s seems to be good anymore. Everyone has lost the will power to try to fix this sinking ship.
Why has the company gave no notification to all employees of this incident?
If was notified. Never heard zero.
Happened in early November. What's worrisome is that it apparently happened over an extended period of time. For ENB it would have been better to have a significant rupture. As it stands, it looks like a failure in leak detection.
