Thread regarding CVS layoffs

An open letter to corporate about store conditions

Current store conditions are unsustainable. Two people is not a crew and stores cannot survive on the insane hours cuts, PLUS increasing workload that's constantly shoved onto store-level personnel. If you're going to cut hours so badly, at least cut HOO to compensate. No reason for stores to be open so early and so late anyway. And the unrealistic metrics, and unreasonable goals, coupled with the crazy workload (that 1-2 people are expected to get done) it's completely unsustainable both in the short and long term. It's almost as if you want to get out of retail altogether the way stores are run and employees treated. And yes treating employees like yesterday's newspaper is not how you treat your own people. Not to mention when fast food pays more than healthcare (cough cough cvs) it's downright embarrassing.

Cut front store operating hours so they mirror/match the pharmacy, allow for more people on shift, be flexible with scheduling, and pay people better. Or just get out of retail. But running things like they currently are is a sure recipe for disaster. Oh wait, it already IS a disaster. Is this the kind of reputation you want for CVS, or do you at corporate just don't care?

With everything else happening to CVS Health, this is the last thing that is on ELT member's minds. Expect conditions to get worse. That's the reality.

Corporate needs to know that 2 people is NOT a crew. They need to understand that if you cut hours and staff, you need to cut hours of operation and workload to compensate. I invite any one of these executives to work in the very conditions they have created.

The drastic hours cuts will leave store teams stretched too thin, leading to a decline in morale, impacting the quality of service we can provide, which will ultimately lead to the deterioration of store standards/conditions. If they are cutting 20, 30, 40 hours expect the same amount of workload/tasks that will not be performed. If they want to save on payroll, trim all the layers in the field. Why do we need all of the FCTs, Talent Business Partners, HRBPs, DAPL/RAPMs? There’s room to trim RDs too! It’s disheartening to see a company like CVS, completely doing the opposite of our HAW values and taking a path that will critically have a negative impact on the retail side of business.

Yes you can’t squeeze blood from a stone, yet when it comes to the stores this is exactly what corporate is trying to do. Maybe things would change if more people stopped drinking the kool-aid, and realized what CVS expects is impossible.
