Thread regarding Marathon Oil Corp. layoffs

Sad Day

Although we have known Marathon Oil was no more, today was the hardest. Marathon Oil was the people for me. For over two decades I have given my all for the people, not the Company. For it was the people that made Marathon Oil the place I loved. I truly hoped to retire from MRO, and I know many others who felt the same way. I will miss all of the people I enjoyed working with and, yes, even those I didn’t. This was a big part of my life, and I will dearly miss it! I know there will be comments that are harsh, but let’s be gentle, as those words are from hurt individuals. Yes, we will all move on, but Marathon Oil will always be alive in my heart and in the hearts of others as well.
I wish you all peace and blessings! I will forever have my wonderful memories. The sale can’t take those from me.

Do people in transition team have anything interesting to do at all? It is boring to be at work for five days and do nothing

I was sad until she from HR asked me to come into her office, locked the door and asked me whats up. I did opened up "everything" in front of her. She liked the "package". I am happy I came out a winner.

I enjoyed my time there, made a lot of friends and connections I still keep in touch with. I'm also glad I sold my RSUs the minute they vested in put the money literally anywhere else.

Can't shed many tears for management though, the only things they seemed to be good at were enriching themselves and deflecting blame onto others.

I have been working as a contractor for 18 years, 14 of those with MRO. It is one of the best company I ever worked for. The people are amazing and it just felt like a family. I thought I'll retire from here but that plan is derailed now.
Good luck to everyone, hope things work out for all.
